But its an M5, it was designed to be twated everywhere, all the time at high speed , over long distances. It would (should) take a lot more than that to 'beat' the M5. NFS - it defo wasnt drifting

I think some of us object to it becuase it would hardly class as "use". I think if the video was shown to BMW UK they would not hesitate in waivering elements of the warranty. I accept it's his car, do what you want, but you only need to get it wrong once and you end up 6ft under. Somebody mad enough to do this, and also get it filmed, is likely to embark upon other irrational challenges with greater risk.

If your gonna spend a small fortune on a performance car go and use it properly.....get on a track and drive the thing how it is meant to be driven. 'Trying' to drift and general doughnutting is not gonna impress anyone.....maybe the Corsa and Saxo brigade down at the local Maccy 'D car park!! ?? Leave it to the kids and enjoy your M5 the way it was supposed to be used for! He obviously has zero respect for his gorgeous car. |

My money is on someone playing with daddys car, near the end the speed he was doing was pretty crazy and also pulling drifts at what 60-80 within 10 feet of the camera man was pretty stupid, get it slightly wrong and they are dead.
Kind of like the 5 18 year olds that died in a M5 going off the end of a runway last month in florida |

When my car was still owned by my dad i never once did a doughnut in it. Now its mine ive done a few. He is driving like a loon, not likely to kill anybody but himself. He is just having fun in a great car. Given an empty road like that would you not want a bit of fun? So its not okay for him to do that but its ok for joe average to go to the pub have two pints then drive home? Carlos

I did that sort of thing in my ford cortina when I was 18. I haven't done it since because I don't want to look like a complete idiot. Aside from the fact that he was lucky not to sideswipe the lamp post and his mate, it was simply not an example of any sort of driving skill. What he needs to do is get himself down to a track day, have some fun in his car and post a video of that on the internet. Oh ... and the fact that he thinks a poorly executed donut and a couple of handbrake turns are drifting also makes him a cock. |

I'd agree that if he wants to drive like a loon and kill himself then fine, but at one point in the video he came very close to the camera man who actually stepped back, if that had gone slightly wrong the camera man would be toast, btw did you actually read about the m5 crash from last month? M5 flys off runway killing 5 He probably thought he wasn't putting anyone in danger either, M5 is a supercar and needs to be treated with a bit more respect than was shown in that video if you don't want people eventually getting hurt |

... looks like pretty good car control to me... Empty road, no risk of collateral - I assume the camera man wasn't chained to a post right ?
Wish I had the balls (or the money!) to spin my car on a 15' by 15' slab of concrete... Just my opinion of course... clearly no-one else commenting has EVER broken a road regulation... SJ |
