wow i would never wait that long to change oil unless i was broke or something.. but are you guys surprised about how the oil looks when at 19k miles? or would you be more surprised if your oil looked like that after 3k miles?
I drive trucks for a living my truck doesnt see oil changes until after about 5 months. It suppose to be changed every 25k miles. I drive it almost 600 miles per day or 10 hrs per day, most of the time im hauling 79k lbs up 7%+ hill climbs at 40-45psi. truck has about 700k miles still working. I use mobile delvac or shell rotella t6. These oils do no have the LL thingy on them. I suppose these oils are less superior to LL oils? |

Really? I made 200k in 2017. How much did you make? It is not about being cheap or not being able to afford. For me, it is about getting the most bang for my buck. I suppose small minded people can't grasp this idea without immediately presuming it is a financial reason for changing oil at 20k.

My OCI sits now at 14,000 miles. So that's 23 oil changes. Most people go 7,500 mile OCI, which is 45 changes. My DIY cost is about $65 for BMW oil and OE filter. So I saved over $1,400 and 16 hours of my time. $1,400 was just under half the price of my lift. Having a lift vastly improves the level of DIY I can do, which is on the order of $12K in shop labor. Longer OCI has definitely made a difference for me.

One day you'll get that good bang for your buck, keep doing oil changes at 20,000 miles!

Yes. To see what settles at the bottom. Then transfers it to be recycled properly. I suppose you'd have someone run after you to clean up after you if you were making 200k? Though so.

No, I would directly drain it into a proper disposal unit 6,000 miles earlier, because at "200k per year," the cost of correctly maintaining an entry-level luxury vehicle is peanuts. I mean, someone with such a prestigious salary would know that by now, right?

Oh, yes. $200,000 per year is something we are all very impressed by. We all definitely believe you.
Anyway, you should probably stop mickey-mousing your maintenance. These cars aren't designed for that. You can afford to properly maintain it, right? |

You joined this forum a month ago and you are quick to bash people who are actually trying to guide you in the right direction, this is why you're receiving backlash from everyone on this forum when you post a new thread assuming you did the right thing... because we all know now that mechanics don't know shit about cars and how to work on them. But you do... because you make a big salary... right?

I've just known quite a few techs and they were all honest people, so your disingenuous and trolling comments were called out, just like your ridiculously trolling threads / smiley faces get called out by everyone else here.
We all sense you're nothing more than yet another bored clown that comes onto random boards and posts nonsense to stir shit up because he has nothing better to do. You do you, the rest of us will continue to call you out.
