My Euro trip is tomorrow Looks like temps jumped like crazy in past few week. It was like -15-20C there, now its +10-15C. Better stay near 0C in mountains, I hate skiing when its warm.

ps. my wife is 50% Polish

Nice post! I do my ED on March 12th! CAN'T WAIT!! But I live in Germany so it is just a train ride to Munich for me. I have been to most of the places that you did on your ED. I think Poland is my favorite and you're right, the roads are MUCH better now than they used to be, the autobahns anyway. I did the passes in the Swiss Alps on my Harley a few years ago and they are awesome. Hard to look at the scenery and drive at the same time, especially on a bike, not to mention there are no guard rails only a very long drop. I see a lot of people talking about the Autobahn and how awesome it is and how crap out highways are. I disagree. I think the autobahn of today is WAY over rated. It is falling apart in a lot of places and because of this, the areas where there is no speed limit is short. A lot of construction so the limit is constantly changing. I think most of the US highways are better, just speed limit sucks! Great write-up!

That's Val-d'Isère/Tignes, France. It's one of the best and biggest places to ski in Europe. Use Clubmed if you got money, they have one in each town, but Val-d'Isère is expensive. On a cheap side can stay at La Daille its shitty but ski-in ski-out and only about 15-20 min away walking from Val

Honestly with all the construction zones, speed zones and whatever other gripes Germans have with the Autobahn they pale in comparison to how bad US roads are, and more specifically NY roads.

I honestly enjoyed myself more in the alps but in terms of HIGHWAY nothing beats Germany and their system.

Thanks for the compliment.

Fantastic! This is how to spend your youth. Marry Marta, or Vanessa. Or both. Would have rocked to have a foursome traveling. Perfect car, great trip. Wooohooo!

By far the best ED story I've read. You must hold the record at 10K miles.

Thanks for the compliment. I was thinking that. I havent really heard of anyone putting that many miles on an ED and ive read a lot of write ups prior to mine. Would be nice to hold the record

I would have to disagree. I am American, lived in Europe (Italy and Germany) for 7 years, and I think US highways are better than Autobahn. I'm sure the autobahn was much better at one time, but now they have been so neglected and the Germans are now trying to catch up. I think the Swiss, Holland and Belgium highways are in better condition. The speed limit may be 130, but since it is a steady limit for the most part, you get to where you are going quicker. Forgot to mention that I am also getting a 335is. Can't wait!

Yes, Alps are much more enjoyable. All in all, superhighways are all boring no matter where you are.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree lol. I will say though that i was impressed by the highways in Holland but ill still stick with Germany. Alps>everything else.

Congrats on the IS!

Great experience you have but not a proper wayto break in your new car with less than 350 miles on it. Congrats on the purchase and the vacation!
