It would be a wise idea to get the car up on ramps or on a lift and pull the under engine plastic cover and take a good look at where the pan is actually leaking and keep an eye on the oil level.

My friend, your story about rain water doesn't make any sense. The diagnosis from Efthreeoh is exactly what I'd have said from the pictures.

There's no traces of oil leaks from the VCG or OFHG. I see oil in the plastic pan, so that's coming from down below. Either the front main bearing or the oil pan gasket. In both cases, further evaluation as to the rate of leaking is needed. These are expensive and somewhat unecessary repairs until they get really bad, which must often is never. If you see oil on the accessory belt, it needs to be addressed asap.

You should actually go back to that service advisor and tell him that you had everything examined by another bmw shop and that the original diagnosis was bogus and fake.

Tell him that you don't appreciate being fooled and lied to. Oh and make sure the manager is there when you say this.

Valve Cover Gasket Leak

A mechanic suggested that my 2008 BMW 328i need these services:
Valve Cover Gasket ($700), VCG assembly ($650), and spark plugs ($150). Which one (s) is most important to do now? Are prices reasonable?
Why do I need both VCG and assembly (I do not understand these terminologies).
Thanks.

Ofhg and plugs are easy. So diy them. Money saved can put towards vcg. It's a PITA.... As in not a 1-2hr job.

I bet they mean VC gasket and OFH gasket. I haven’t done the OFHG but people say it’s easy. It’s definitely more critical than the VCG.
