Question 06 E90 voltage regulator replaced, 4A27 IBS error, I don't have IBS :-o

Hi,

I have replaced voltage regulator, and got really strange 4A27 error:

Voltage regulator is Valeo, the same type and number, it works fine now and the voltage is up to 14.4 V.

My problem is that I don't have IBS on negative battery lead. Why my DDE tries to communicate with IBS and has error?

How to tell them that I don't have IBS???

I also don't have IBS on my car. Had an alternator problem, but that was fixed. I have the same error code as well.

For now, I just leave it be, since it doesn't affect driving in any way, nor do I have battery charging issues.

What about DPF regeneration? I think DDE must not have any error to start regeneration.

Anyway, it's really strange that DDE try to communicate with IBS which does not exists. I never found anything about coding or retrofit or so for IBS. What if I decide to buy and put IBS now? How to tell them?

From my understanding, there is a connector for IBS in the trunk, all you have to do is buy the module and connect that to the battery negative instead of the plain wire. Not sure if DDE will respond differently though.

Angry

I don't have that connector nor any wiring to DDE (pin 14). After that there is still problem how DDE knows is there IBS or not? Now, my DDE thinks that I have IBS any tries to communicate.

Hi jboban,

I see you've have a similar issue as me - Have you managed to resolve the your issue? I drive a E91 330D 2006 plate a little while ago i had the car go into limp mode with every warning light possible coming on the dash, including the Red Cog of death!!! It turned out to be the faulty alternator. I have sine had the Alternator changed and the car seem to run fine, but when i connect my Diagnostic tool to it, it seem to have an error code 4A27 Intelligent Battery Sensor logged every time, and no matter how many times i clear it, it just keeps coming back up! My car don't seem to have a IBS fitted to it, just a standard beige colour earth cable, I've looked into it and it seems like IBS has 2 blue connector, 1 plugs into the box terminal on the battery which i do have and the other small blue plus into another small blue connector which goes to the ECU i believe which i don't have!

So,i was interested to know as to how you got on, we might have a few clues here for one another which might help....

i have sine bought an IBS unit from eBay, but not sure if it will work without the little Blue plug connected and left loose!!!

Look forward to your reply

Thanks in advance

IBS Missing

Did anyone figure this out. I too had alternator problems (just replaced). I think cars with Idrive have an IBS maybe its because the car has a retrofitted CIC.
