76 Miles, First Scratch
While cleaning the car (again) the woman launched a stone with the weeedwacker, and put a small scratch in the black paint.
The question is, does the Jet Black have a clear coat on top of it? If so, It looks like a careful touch up will take care of it. An no, I did not smash the weekwacker into a thousand pieces, (But I was really close) |

I tried the polish thing while I was counting to 100. The nick in the finish is deep enough to catch a fingernail in, but not all the way through the black. It needs clear to fill it in, then, it should be ok. I have spent the last 20 years driving crappy cars and trucks. This is the first new "toy" I purchased just for me, so I am freaking over the first scatch. I expected some schmuck to give me a door ding after a few thousand miles, I did not expect the woman to hit it with a rock less than 3 days after I picked it up. Time to get back to sucking down the brewskis. |

Join the club. The honeymoon is over and actually in hindsight it's good because the next one won't bug you as much. Well, except for the next 2 or 3. Probably after the 4th one you'll give in to the fact that shit happens.

Use Meguiars SCRATCH X
To remove small scratches and other problems with the pain in new cars use Meguiars Scratch X, it works very good without affecting the paint.

I noticed my first door ding this week on my '00 celica. Sigh. Any of you out there with red cars want to own up to it? I've got your DNA on my door panel!!!

I looked at the marks with a magnifying glass. The Pits in the paint go into the primer. I have to fill the holes with paint, and then polish them down.
Thanks for the moral support. |
