Question $595 for Huper Optik tints

Where: Automall Tint Factory in Fremont
What: Huper Optik tints on back window as well as sides (front and back)
How much: $595 including tax

anyone done HO tints on this guy and if yes for how much? The
price seems way too expensive. Anyone know Sydney and can hook me
up with a better price. Much appreciate any info.

PS: If you don't mind, please don't take the discussion off HO tints. This
is what I want on my car so I'd like the posts to stay on subject. Thanks.

Based on what I know, that doesn't sound unreasonable to me. The tint itself is pretty expensive, and my understanding is that it is a royal PITA to work with.

It's either that price or only slightly less for Pinnacle F1-- you won't get a good price break until you decide you don't want ceramic.

Good luck! Let us know how it turns out.

haha I don't know if saying my name will help, but you could try... just say Brian with the e90 referred me... I talk to Sidney enough for him to remember me--I think. I'm going back there on Sunday to get my rear left passenger window retinted cause of a scratch in the tint.

I assume you have an appointement to go on a Sunday? Can I tag along?
Do you have HO in your car and if so what was the price? If not what
is your tint and what %? Thanks.

I think that's too much. On a sedan, I'd pay no more than $400-450 total for huper optik.

I don't have HO, I have Suntek HP--and Gerardo is doing it... not Sidney. I have 30% all around... and the retint is 60$ for a rear roll down plus 10$ for some felt pieces installed for my rear windows.

HO will run that high... just cause of the tint price and plus your not paying all that money for only the tint. Your paying for the experience as well. You can get tinted for 170 bucks the quality of the work won't be as good.

If that's what you want, then be prepared to pay the price

Shadowcoder, did you find a better price for the HO tint? I'm looking to tint my 335i as well.

Nop. I tinted my 330i yesterday with Huper Optik at the automall tint
factory in fremont. I am very satisfied with the result and the work
performed. Did 40% on the back window and 50% on the sides (both
front and back). Car looks great.

I paid $475 in Los Angeles for HO 30. Tinted all windows including the sunroof minus the front windshield. Took about 3.5-4hrs, and came out fantastic. Not only are you paying for the actual material, but the experience needed to work with that type of tint...good luck. I have no regrets.

Same here. No regrets. I like the result and the jobs done very much. It took
mine 5 hours to do cause he had to redo the driver window 4 times since one
his tools was creating a barely visible line on the tint. Other guys would have
left it like that and the customer wouldn't be able to spot it. But it took a while
to eliminate which tool it was and finally get it right. I am happy that he showed
such attention to detail during the install. My black sapphire looks fantastic
with HO

No, really there is a noticable difference between various films. I had HO 30 on my car for a year and had it taken off because it looked sea green. I replaced it with Llumar AT and it looks waaaayyy better.

So the HO warranty card says that they have lifetime warranty against
discoloration etc etc. Did you have one? And if so, did you call them up
to tell them that it looked sea green? Some products in the market for
cleaning tinted windows, contain ammonia and are not safe. They will
discolor any film as far as I know. If mine ends up looking sea green, I
will definitely make use of the lifetime warranty they gave me (and that's
coming from HO btw). Or maybe it was the 30%. I don't know. The future
will tell but I didn't go that dark. I went 40% and 50%.

No, I got screwed because I live in Detroit and had my tint done in Florida. The tint shop gave me a warranty, but I'd have to drive to Florida to get it replaced. I didn't get a warranty card from Huper Optik. I never used ammonia based cleaners, so it didn't change color. It always had a lighter, reflective, milky look to it. In certain light it looked ok, but most of the time it didn't look very good. I hear that HO 40 or 50 isn't as reflective. I'm just stating my opinion because I learned the hard way. I wish knew that the brand of film can vary so much, before I made a hasty decision. Good luck with yours.

I don't know about Norcal but I've seen HO run for around $450-500. Seems a bit high and I'd rather go with Formula 1 Pinnacle. A bit cheaper, the HO I've seen looks reflective (although this may be the look you are going for), and ceramic as well. I know you didn't want to deviate from HO, but just wanted to throw in another option.

Are you sure that the installer/dealer was an authorized HO dealer? The business is required to give you a card to fill out that you mail directly to HO headquarters in TX...mine gave me the warranty card and explained the whole process in great detail.
