I assure you it's not a difficult manifold to remove.

a 3800 is an engine that was designed like 60 years ago.

it's a brick comparatively.

go pull the manifolds off a 1uz to change the starter.
know true despair.

Don't get me wrong, its not ridiculously hard to change. I think alot of my issues where the clips for the hoses. My left hand dosent work so well some times, when I was about 19 my friend and I were working on his truck, he let the jack down while I was still looking at somthing, truck came down onto my hand.

Got 98% of the scratches out of the hood.

I first wet sanded with 3000 & 5000 grit. I then got my porter & cable D/A polisher & chemical guys Hex Logic pads out. I used a heavy cutting compound made by Sonex. It's worth the extra $10.00... trust me on that! I followed up with 3M's no 2 & 3 perfect it.

I'm very happy with the results

Every time I see results like this I'm tempted to give the process a try but the fear of messing up the paint holds me back every time.

I can guide you through the process.

First step is getting a quality D/A polisher & pads.

It's hard to go wrong with a Porter & Cable 7424xp

PORTER-CABLE Variable Speed Polisher, 6-Inch (7424XP) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002654I46..._MCW2EbVENFE9V

I like the chemical guys pads; they are price friendly & produce great results IMO.

You only need orange, white & black. Maybe red & yellow

Yellow - heavy cutting
Orange - heavy / medium cutting
White - medium / light cutting
Black - light cutting / polish
Red - wax & sealants

Chemical Guys HEX_3KIT_5 5.5" Buffing Pad Sampler Kit, 4 Items - (1) 16 oz Polishing Pad Cleaner + (3) 5.5" Buffing Pads that Work with 5" Backing Plates https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J588UNG..._aJW2EbSBBXS6Z

Lake Country Backing Plate -
3" & 5"

Lake Country - Dual-Action Hook & Loop Fastener Flexible Backing Plate - 3 Inch Diameter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006LPNEJC..._MKW2EbSHH9AME

Lake Country - Dual-Action Hook & Loop Flexible Backing Plate - 5 Inch Diameter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0008G1RDK..._.LW2EbRY49PKC

Your gonna need 3000 & 5000 sand paper for surface scratches that the D/A won't get out.

3M Trizact Performance Sandpaper, 03064, 3-2/3 in x 9 in, 3000 grit, 5 per pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005RNGL9O..._DTW2EbEXY2XY4

3M Trizact Performance Sandpaper, 03056, 5000, 3 2/3 in x 9 in https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LIXEWXO..._yUW2EbH85J77Y

Last is the polish -

Sonex might make one of the very best cutting pastes -

Sonax CutMax, Cut & Finish, Perfect Finish Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LBW536K..._cWW2EbPQN91G6

3M Perfect It 1-2-3, Also makes a very good product.

1Pk - 3M - Perfect It Buffing & Polishing Compound 06085 06064 06068 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0082LK8K6..._1YW2Eb6MPK0DF

They do make the same kit in a pint size for about $75.00.

I used the Sonex Heavy cutting & then 3M 2 & 3.

I like the Sonex heavy cutting better than 3M's version.

Then you will need to watch a few videos on you tube

Retrofitted and coded power folding mirrors, and began to swap the chrome window trim to black.

BTW, I can confirm that you can use power folding/auto-dip mirrors with regular heated only glass, without issues. Just run the red (positive) and brown (negative) wires to the prongs on the glass, and code only the folding mirror option ($313).

Cheers!

Finished swapping the chrome exterior window trim to black. It's subtle, but IMHO, it's MUCH better!

Cheers!

Replaced the plastic bracket for the dash speaker. Previous owner way overtightened the screws, each mounting point was broken which resulted in cracking around them. This made it not only rattle, but creak too.

Fixed the front sunroof drain

My first post

I fixed the clogged sunroof drain for the two front drains. I will post it in DIY section but I don't have permission to start a new post yet.

No kidding!! My old '08 328i had it, and when I bought the 330i, I knew I was going to swap the chrome out. I only like chrome in small amounts and for specific areas/items.

This is my 2005 Harley Night Train. The small amount of chrome pops off the black, and isn't gaudy, IMHO.

Cheers!
