E90 Transmission filler plug removal

It is counter (lefty-loosy) clock-wise to remove it, correct?

Why oh why the car maker, the dealer, or some $&@#! needed to tighten it this tight is beyond me.

Deep creep a Hex and all my might are not enough to even budge it!

That is correct.

I've had more than a few fasteners severely over-torqued by techs. We have the technology to torque to spec, yet the extra 30 seconds it takes to dial the torque wrench is too much apparently.

I had success breaking it loose using my gearwrench 12 inch flex head ratchet and Sunex Stubby hex socket.

Stubby Hex: https://www.amazon.com/Sunex-3646-8-...9068152&sr=8-1

Good luck! they are super tight and i remember busting my knuckles on my other car trying to get it off before I bought the stubby hex socket set.

I'm assuming this is a ZF 6HP21 6-speed auto transmission?

What I ended up doing on mine was using a heat gun to easily heat up the aluminum case of the transmission where the steel drain plug screws in. And then when that was nice and warm/hot....I used one of those air cans turned upside down to spray out the freezing cold propellant and freeze the plug.

With the case being hot (expand), plug being cold (contract), I was able to finally get the plug to pop loose with the breaker bar and hex socket.

I got it, longer 8mm hex and a small floor jack did the trick.
