[YVR] June/July 2008 - Planning & Organization Chatter
Ok so...time to plan our next meetup.
1. Date Please vote for each day that work for you. Please do not just vote for one day...but vote for each day that work for you. That helps narrow down which day will work the best for everyone for maximum attendance... - Saturday, June 21 - Sunday, June 22 - Saturday, June 28 (weekend prior to Canada Day - Tuesday, July 1) - Sunday, June 29 (weekend prior to Canada Day - Tuesday, July 1) - Saturday, July 5 - Sunday, July 6 - Saturday, July 12 - Sunday, July 13 - Saturday, July 19 - Sunday, July 20 2. Event Pick which of these events would interest you the most: a) Langley Drive-In Movie Theatre - Meet up centrally in Vancouver or Burnaby in the late afternoon/evening. Drive out together in convey to drive-in movie theatre in Langley. Most of the driving in convey will be on the highway. A retro experience for those who have never been to a real drive-in movie theatre. As I understand it...the drive-in movie theatre shows three movies and once you buy a ticket...you can stay for all three movies or leave early. b) Photo Scavenger Hunt - A hybrid of the traditional car rally. Everyone meets up at a central parking lot. Each driver/team must have a digital camera with them. Each driver/team is given a list of items they must photograph with the driver in the photo. ie: "Take a photo of your driver holding a copy of today's Vancouver Sun standing in front of "X" building (+10 points)". Specific points are given to each photo. Some higher, some lower (depending on difficulty in obtaining and location). Driver/teams must recovene back to central parking lot by a specified time. Every team chips in $10 each. Driver/team with largest amount of points wins the pot. c) Just another meetup with maybe a short cruise - Meetup locally somewhere in Vancouver/Burnaby...and just cruise together for about 20-30 minutes and then photos afterwards. Nice and simple. d) Meetup down in the US - Start off early in the day, cross the US border and meetup with Seattle E90POST members and cruise along the Washington coast or do a mountain run. Return back in late afternoon. e) BBQ - Meetup at local park for potluck BBQ. This event would likely be weather permitting and may have to be confirmed at last minute. f) Other - Your awesome suggestion of ________________. Ok...discuss! EDIT: DAMNIT!!! I clicked the poll button...but I guess it won't support a poll with 16 options. LOL. Ok back to old fashion way. So just copy and paste which dates and which option you would like to do. i think BBQ is a very good idea...people who are joining just bring one thing along or something like that and gather at a nice place where we can take photos too.. and then maybe cruise after the bbq

the tough thing about a bbq would be..
A. weather B. Whos gonna bring what (we don't want 20 guys bringing hot dogs) but if we plan now , and have a flexable avalibility from everyone, i think the bbq plan would be an awsome meet!

if we indeed do a bbq (which seems pretty likely)...we will definately need volunteers for setup/cooking/cleanup. how good are you at flipping burgers? i don't want no food poisoning! |
