Shaky Headlights

I've searched everywhere and I don't know what the problem is. My headlights shake like crazy. I see it on the reflection of the car in front of me if I am driving on anything but a perfectly smooth road or if I hit a small pothole. Also, when I close the trunk the lights shake. I've gone to the dealer to get this taken care of and they installed brackets but that hasn't done anything.

Has the car been in any accidents?

Nope.

The only thing is a small rear bumper dent from someone at a stoplight. Other than that, nothing.

I have an 08' and have the same problem. My friend who works at the dealership said there's no TSB for it, even though there was one for the 07's (IIRC).

I told him that's bullshit as my 08 has the same problem as the 07's do.

I had the same problem as well on my 07. The passenger side rattled really bad. It was fixed by the dealer under the TSB that adds a couple more parts to anchor down the headlights.

I'm pretty sure that's what they supposedly did for mine. I have an '06.

I once hit a pothole at 50 mph, as a result the passenger headlight auto-levelling did not work after that and it shaked like crazy while driving. At the next maintenance visit they replaced the complete headlight unit - free of charge (warranty). Check if your auto-levelling at start-up doesn't work, you may need new headlight(s).

At first I thought it was the leveling as well, but the lights do move up and down at startup. Also, when I close the trunk I see a great deal of shaking.

There's linkage with the front wishbone and the rear subframe also on the driver's side.
It might be loose.

I had the same problem. Make sure the do all parts of the SIB and not just the first part. They told me they did the brackets the first time and it would still shake. The next time I brought it in they magically fixed it. Maybe they installed the brackets wrong...

See the link:

Hope this helps.

I noticed the shake when I first picked up my car. I thought it was normal...
