Why does my car warn me at 37 degrees?

Interested in why it chimes.

To let you know that there may be icy spots forming on the road.

If air temp is 37, there may be ground spots that are 32.

+1 at 37 degrees it alerts the driver that the surface of the road may be frozen, therefore possibly slippery, and extra caution should be observed,Even though ice won't normally occur at 37°F, the temperature probe is several inches above the road surface, and the actual surface temperature may be lower.

I get the snowflake on the dash, but I have an 07'. Not sure if the newer models are different or not.

This. Even if there is no snow/ice on the roads, driving below 40*F with summer compound tires is dangerous. I already put my snows on last week, and got the snowflake yesterday

It's more noticeable on non-idrive cars, but I think it does regardless of either.

I shows up where the "low gas" icon appears on the dash. According to your garage list(), I'm assuming that you live in a very warm climate so you may not ever see it show up on your dash unless it gets below 37 degrees where you live.

We live in a suburb of Chicago. I guess we don't drive that car much, it's an 07 and just turned 19k miles, and it usually gets put away for the winter.

I guess you can try starting it up on a very cold day this winter and it should POP up almost immediately. Mine popped up this morning and I didn't even have a chance to pull out of the garage yet.

Mine doesn't chime if it is already under 36 degrees. If it were 38 and drops to like 36 degrees it warns me. I pulled out yesterday and it was 33 degrees.... didn't make a noise... I don't think....

That's weird, because mine chimes immediately after I start my car up. I guess each of our vehicles have there own personalities.
