This thread, IMHO, gets longer and more tedious to read because every 20th post a newcomer chimes in and asks the same questions, the most popular of which are:

Q: How can I know what "Progman" version I have?
A: You can't - and more technically speaking, there is no such thing as "a Progman version" on your DME. I lack interest to repeat all of that.

Q: Can't they just flash me back?
A: Although they could, they won't.

Q: But how if my dealer still has the old software?
A: No use, your car's software is newer and thus, you'll get no update. A special software is needed to downgrade which normal dealers don't get their hands on nor are they permitted to use without a BMW order to do so.

These are no rumors and it has nothing to do with BMW not trusting an internet source. It's just people knowing no netiquette.
Since I am the OP I was able to update the first post. If you guys can think of other things I should put there just let me know.

Stressdoc, do you think it would be beneficial to sticky this until a resolution is reached? Not that it isn't in the first page everyday anyway, and has over 45k views, but still...

LOL. It has stickied itself. Which makes it all the more hilarious when we repeatedly get the "you're the first case we've heard of" whenever anyone contacts BMW.

Also, there is no chance in hell BMW does not know about this thread. 45000 views and BMW is not one of them?

Remember, it's not 45k people, it's 45k glances. I'm sure I'm responsible for several hundred myself.

And keep in mind that the enthusiasts here make up only a small percentage of all 335 owners. Which is why BMW can continue to ignore this issue.

Hopefully I'm wrong and they are in touch with this community.

Geez, they are coming to get it? Not even making you drive it to the dealer? Are they driving you a loaner and then leaving in your car? That's service!

I still think it's amazing that you are allowed to converse with the Regional Tech. The Bavarian Powers That Be must be fuming about that, and acting like the Earth has started rotating backwards or something.

Yes they always come and get my car and drop off a loaner.

According to Jarred ext.6265 - the arrogant liar at BMW NA who I just spoke to: Dan, they guy some of you claim to have talked to, says he's never talked to anyone about this issue nor is he aware of it. It is just an internet rumor and nothing else. Dan knows nothing about this.

He also said, contradicting himself for the N-th time during our conversation, that ALL of you need to call and complain about "your personal preference for the way vehicle feels; as there is nothing wrong with the car. And, maybe, after he and Dan document all of your complaints, BMW may decide to do something about it.

Jarred - I know that you read this thread (you have also hinted that to me in our phone conv). I truly hope that when all this is set and done, BMW and BMW NA have enough shame left to fire your ass. I will certainly make sure that all our conversations are brought to BMW's attention.

Q: How can I tell if I have progman 29.2 or later software?
A: You HAVE to ask your dealer/service adviser.

Q: How can I tell if I have dme v81 hardware?
A: If your build date is april 08 or later you have v81. If its March 08, you probably have v81. You can check your build date by looking in the driver's door jam. You can check for sure by getting into your ecu compartment and lookign at the ecu.

Q: How can I tell if my car has lag?
A: Cruise at 2,000 rpm in 4th gear (if you have an automatic use manual mode). Then, floor the throttle. If the power doesn't kick in fully till about 3,000rpm, then you have the lag.

Q: What causes the lag?
A: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...postcount=1161 (e90post.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3293553&postcount=1161)

Q: What if I don't have The Lag?
A: DON'T GET YOUR SOFTWARE UPDATED! Post your location and car specs to this thread, because you could potentially help us solve this problem and save yourself some future pain.

ther's a lot of people on 1addicts that don't have lag. whenever someone starts a thread tryign to discuss something useful about the 29.2 lag, they butt in saying "i have a april/may/july/etc build 135i, car pulls like a beast from 500 rpm up". I don't get anything useful from their car's specs.

I've already asked on the thread how you can tell if you have 29.2. My i-drive/ nav screen menu is brown. When I called my dealer to ask what they did to my car 2 weeks ago, My SA told me they updated my software from E89X0703516 to E89X0803530. I have no idea what PROGMAN version that might be. Anybody? Second time I've asked here.
This is interesting.. the update here to the 530 program is what caused the lag. My dealer confirmed they updated me from the 530 program to 540. Whatever that means. I will work on posting that video tonight if I can. What I know is I don't have a rush of power anymore at 3k like I used to. The power is consistent all the way up after 1500 or so. They did actually put on my invoice "Customer states that since the last program update the vehicle has turbo lag" - "INCA Included in repairs made on line A". Line A of the invoice is where they list the HPFP replacement, and my SA told me he did this program update as part of that replacement (or at least that might be how it was justified?)

check out this link:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...40#post3240402

the target data status (the engine software version) of progman 29.2-30.0 is e89x-08-03-530.

the target status of 30.0.1-30.0.2 is e89x-08-03-540.

they say v31 will be E89x-08-09-515

Slubu, please add this info to the first post also.

we have heard from the people with 540 (the 30.0.1 and 30.0.2 people) and they have lag. so we assumed it doesn't fix it.
