16" 7-spoke E46 wheels on a base E90 - basic spacer enough?

I've seen a couple threads on this, but not this scenario exactly. Found a set of 7-spoke E46 wheels with good 205/55 tires that I'd like to use on a '06 328Xi that's currently running 16" wheels. I understand the offset difference, but wondering if I can get by with a simple (non hub-centric) spacer as a budget solution in the short-term. Maybe a ~5mm spacer might suffice?
