Transmission code CC-ID 254 in E90 330i

I've got a 2006 E90 330i Automatic with about 112,000 miles. After a short transmission slip between 4-5th and a hard slip between 5-6th, I got the Transmission light (Red Gear with exclamation point in the middle).

The light looks like this below, except in my e90.

After checking the code in the dash, it came up with CC-ID 254 "Transmission Malfunction Emergency Program."

Have any of you seen that code before? I'm looking to see if it is the transmission itself or something that just needs to be reset.

Thanks in advance!

Have you serviced your transmission? Replaced Fluid/pan filter?

Have you experienced any slipping before this warning light came on?

Haven't changed the fluid or replaced the filter yet, which may be the cause. It did have slight slipping before the light came on and would slip maybe a handful of times within the past couple months. Seemed fine and became much more constant the past few weeks.

If I accelerate gradually and let it shift at lower RPM's (between 1-2000 or so), it would shift through all the gears fine. If I press my foot any further though and have it shift a little higher (between 2-3000 rpm), it would start to slip.

I'll be checking the code this weekend to see and may end up just doing the fluid/filter.
