Clunk and loss of power when accelerating at high RPM's

Hi all, this is my first post. I bought a 2006 330xi about a month ago with about 100k on it. I've noticed when I accelerate hard going fast (>75mph) the car clunks and I lose power until I let off the gas again and then it seems to be fine. It is an automatic transmission and has done this in D and DS mode, haven't tried it in manual. Anything helps!

I don't have a scanner but nothing is showing up on the dashboard. I will try to take a video today. Basically when I floor it, it speeds up for a while then clunks and cuts out, then I let off the gas and it seems to be normal again.

what happense if you try this:
car standing still
in neutral sweep the rpm all the way up slowly back and forth, don't smack the red line .
do this with different throttle levels.

I made a video and put it on youtube. This is normally what would happen. This was also in DS mode. I tried it again in D mode and the same thing happened at a certain RPM and then a big red exclamation point appeared on the dash and I could not shift up or down or switch to DS or manual mode. It was stuck in that gear until I exited the hwy and turned the car on and off. Is this normal?

Sounds like a transmission issue...

Sounds and looks like a flare shift. Could be a logic controller (mechatronic sleeve) or a physical issue with the internal workings of the valve body. Possibly one of the solenoids are sticking then bursting open causing the rough shifting and fault. This physical problem may not leave a fault code stored in the DME (which makes trouble shooting tricky).

yeah most def a tranny issue, hard to tell if mechanical or sensor related but i am leaning more towards mechanical at this point.

I know the transmission fluid should be changed soon and I'm getting it done in about a week. Think that'll help if its a shift flare?
