Hooking up my Ipod to the aux input, using a belkin charger. Is it bad for the car or the ipod to just leave it in the armrest plugged into the belkin charger?

It will be fine, I leave mine plugged into my Monster 24/7. No problems.

BMW says you should unplug everything when the cars off. it will not hurt the ipod but could hurt the car. Something with power flowing back from the ipod into the battery.

Not all rechargable batteries are of the kind where you can let them charge constantly without shortening the battery life. I'd look in the iPod's manual to see if they recommend completely discharging the thing before recharging it. I think it's the NiMH batteries which need that and the lithium ion ones don't, or something like that...

The Monster adapter has a trickle feature.
" iCharger: Fast charges. Maximum battery life. Monster’s Smart Digital Charger™ technology rapidly charges the battery, and then switches to a trickle charge to optimize its performance." |

Even with Lithium Ion batteries, you should not charge it constantly. Little by little you are decreasing the life of the battery. They are FAR less sensitive to it than NiMh, but still hurts them. In the 'perfect' world, you'd fully charge the battery then let it run completely out before charging it again. Not really practical, so I'd recommend just charging it when it needs to.

Yeah, you won't notice a decrease in battery time/charge with LiOn, you'll instead just decrease the overall life of the battery. It isn't the 'memory issue', but instead just extra wear and tear on the battery. The batteries should last 5-6 years, but with constant charging I've heard people who's batteries have died in as little as 2-3 years.
