E90Post was great until you came along. You're a detriment to this entire group and part of the 20% that makes up those that are supressive to the rest.

Wow I have to say that this DIY write is certainly moving me in getting a M-tech steering wheel. Man I ain't gonna lie, at first I was really worrying about the airbag blowing the hell up in my face guys. Man that was just a joke right, who ever mentioned it before??? I mean right now I am in school and I need to drive the whole time. So I can't really afford to have my e90 without a steering wheel!!!

Hum, but I can't help the desire of having one of those. Oh what the hell, I am gonna do it!!! Can't help it!! As sonn as coming back from Taiwan, I am gonna do it. Thanks bavarian!! I love the write up and will give it a shot. oh man GOD HELP ME!!!!

haaa... I have joked around about the airbag deploying... By disconnecting the battery (which is almost the first step), your airbag has no power, and certainly shouldnt deploy...

Good luck with the DIY!!! It is really easy, and hopefully my DIY has spelled it out for you...

Hey, what's up everybody. Earlier this week I received my mtech wheel I won offf from the guy in sweden on ebay. S&H was actually pretty quick, got it in like 4-5 days!!! So this afternoon me and my dad decided to diy tutorial bavaraian posted in the beginning. Everything went smoothly, until we tried to install the new wheel and realized the center mount and 3 hole plate was not threaded or bored!!! The center mount wasn't bored and the 3 hole was not bored and was close shut so the screw wouldn't even go through it!!! I will write him an email as soon as I am done writing this up. Hopefully it's just a bad batch he had in stock!!! Please see pix for better understanding.

I can't believe they shipped you a clearly defective wheel. Was it a replica, not a genuine one? I can't imagine a genuine BMW wheel being released to the market in that condition.

The return shipping back to Sweden may cost you some $$$. Good luck!

It looks and feels genuine and has all the markings of it. Does anybody know where he get's his wheels from? I am getting the exact same wheel from the exact same ebayer bavarian got his. I don't think it's a knock off. I am tempted to walk into a bmw dealer and ask if i could exchange my M wheel for one of theirs even though they are not part of this transaction. I forgot to mention during the reinstallation process, I started the car and received "4x4", "brake" and "dsc" malfunction lights. It went away after a few minutes, hopefully it won't come back on again.

did u receive ur m wheels yet or is it still intransit? let us know if it's threaded or not. hopefully he can catch urs in time before it ships.

Mine is installed, just got it a week ago! But I have no problems with the centering issue. When I was checking it out, there are threads in the center and the 3 complete threads for the screws that is used to hold the airbag...

Let me take it apart later today or tomorrow to confirm it. But was i just said should be 99% accurate....

YOu will need Trox 10, 20 and 30

as well as 16mm socket with an extension and a toruque wrench for 46ft/LB to retightening the bolt up to BMW spec...

To the guy who is having an issue with his steering wheel, thank you for bringing this to the attention of the forum. When I saw your post, I ran to my box of uninstalled E90 goodies, and checked my wheel (..which was purchased from the same guy in Sweden/Poland) to make sure it didn't suffer from the same peculiarity. Luckily is was fine. Good luck in your quest for a replacement.

Update on my M Steering Wheeel! As you may recall, last week I received a defective M Wheel from ebay seller mentioned earlier in this thread. Well, today I received the replacement wheel and I immediately installed it in my car. Here's how it looks, tell me what you think:

The guy on ebay was actually really cool about it when I first contacted him last week and sent him pictures of the defective wheel. He admitted it was a bad wheel and took responsibility for it and ask me to ship it back. He said he will refund me the shipping cost and promptly shipped the replacement wheel via global expressmail in 2 days. It feels much thicker than the sport steering wheel and I will give feedback if anything else comes up.
