How to load front suspension to tighten control arm bolts.

I've seen references to load your suspension by jacking up on the thick part of the control arm next to the ball joint. See pic w/arrow. Is that correct?

I'd suggest jacking from the hub or bottom of the disc.
You don't need to lift the car, just get the arm to ride height position.

yes, that part is fine to use, I have used it.

If you use the hub/disc they can rotate/spin bennyball

no, you dont want to ever jack it from the brake disc, lower ball joint/control arm is fine. use a pieces of wood or hockey puck so not to mark the arm

The hub/rotor scares me a bit bc it seems like it wants to spin and shoot the jack out which could be very violent. I've done it with a slightly bent piece of wood and I've also jacked from that point under the control arm. Never had an issue with either way.

On other cars, I have put the bolt into the arms at 5 or so ft-lbs, then install the wheels, and pull the car up onto oil change ramps to do the final torque. That way I can torque the bolts with the weight on the tires.
