Steering wheel retrims from £99

No this is not an advert, but ive been wanting to change from my pre lci SE steering wheel for a long time and havnt been able to get an m sport one with airbag without paying silly money.

Now we have all heared of seat retrim, so i searched ebay and came up with this

The company seems to have good feedback and i was wondering if it was worth getting them to jazz up my SE wheel by making it fatter as my controls/airbag will go straight back on.

What do you guys reckon?

I dunno about this company but I got mine done By jack from Royal steering wheels. He has done hundreds of wheels for many different forums. Top guy, and top notch work.

Thanks. That name did come up in a few searches, but i couldnt find any contact details on his website to see if he is in the UK or not. I'd prefer to deal with someone in the UK as the firm on ebay are in Germany.

Non taken, but i aint paying £200 for an airbag plus the cost of the steering wheel hence the OP.

Cant speak highly enough of Jack at royal steering wheels, he did the one in my e46 m3 and was awesome, padded out too for that chunky feel. Will try get a pic up

Had mine done from Royal Steering wheels. Quality of the work is very good, however the quality of the leather I feel isn't that good. It gets dirty/greasy and oily pretty quick, unlike my original leather item it would go a good 3-4 weeks before needing leather cleansing this one gets shinny in 2 weeks, infact it looks like it has 40-50k worth of wear on it

Thats pretty good. What i really want is the thumb humps added and a bit of girth (roll on the jokes), but mine's starting to wear and could do with freshening up a little. The problem will be taking the car off the road unless they have the same type to exchange.

Think I paid about the same with m stitching, u pay deposit for an exchange wheel and he sends a wheel out trimmed and then just send yours back to him then deposit refunded.

He builds u the thumb grips if you don't have them.

Suprised to hear about the leather being poor. He did mine in alcantara. And it was top notch. The material used was excellent. But I guess it depends on what he has in stock at the time right? I dunno. Nice bloke though.

This sounds great!
I too really want that "fatter" steering wheel with the thumb dimples.
Been on the hunt for an M-Sport wheel but at £300+ for a second hand one its very steep.

Can anybody who has had a SE steering wheel re-trimed post some pics? Interested to see what this looks like?

Guys the SE wheels re trimmed will not be as fat as the M sport wheel.

You can Ask jack to build int he thump grips and thicken the SE wheel which he will do. But like I said it wont be as fat. Simply because. If he puts in too much padding what happens is he will loose its shape over time, and plus wont have the right feel.

Just keeping it real. So you know the score.
