Coming home from Guildford tonight I had a quick look in Bramley at their stock. I am not usually a fan of of 'oversized' alloys but these did look simply stunning on the car.

White is growing on me at the moment but I fear it will be a pain to keep clean.

Stunning rims there! Are they made just for the M3?

I think the rims probably look better in person than in your pics, which is mostly the case!
Alpine White is not too hard to live with, believe it or not! Even with a little dirt, it still looks fresh! Just look at it this way; when it does get dirty, its easy to see where all the dirt is!!

They are my fave AC rims. 20" altho im not sure they suit the M3, the M3 is a purist motor, deserves the body and rims to stay stock.

They would look good on a ''cooking E92'' however!

I agree about the purist theme and with that principle the standard 18's should be the drivers choice. I bet about 1 in 50 M3s that are delivered come on the std. 18's in the UK. Chris Harris from Autocar is getting some 18's to replace the 19's on his so it will be interesting to read his opinions.

Oh i agree gibbo, the E46 for track use needs 18" and there is something about an e46 m3 on 18" which screams SO much more performance than an e46 m3 on drug dealer 19"s.

Bramleys is an awesome place, I popped in the other day to have a look round and was there an hour - Its better than most motorshows!!!

Im loving those wheels - They are like a pumped up M6 wheel!!!

I agree Oli Bramley is a fantastic dealership it also has a great location and they have been doing it up over the last few years. The staff are always friendly and happy for me and friends to walk around and look/dream of owning the cars.

It's the kind of business I would love to own if I was in the motor industry and I guess what most people would aspire to. They also have a London showroom now but I have never been there.

Having £3 to £4 million of depreciating stock may give me a few sleepless nights if it was mine but I guess if you buy at the right price and work in parallel to other high end dealers everything will always sell. I look in every 3 months ish and the only car I have ever seen stick was a red 997C2s with full aerokit (it looked stunning) but for some reason sat there for well over 6 months.....


Did you see the Black Edition 30 Golfs with the black 18" alloys - looked very stealth.

When is the new A3 coming?

Nice find Gibbo. Looks wicked in AW but not keen on the wheels. Standard 19s would look much better or 19" E46 CSL alloys in graphite for my money.

Carl, here is a 2005 on 18's. Took me ages to find any on 18's as every UK M3 driver is a poser on 19's.

It`s funny how all the "experts" claim the E46 handles better on 18`s, I aint ever seen a CSL on 18`s.

Mate id never sell the 335d for an E46 M3, but if i had LOADSA money i would have a mint example of one


Would love a white one on 18" with a chrome roll cage and bucket seats!

Regarding keeping the 335d or moving on, its a tough call. I still need to drive a 911 turbo but general consensus of family and friends around me is that its better to have a current shape new bmw than an old shape old skool 6 year old 911 turbo.

Generally a smaller wheel is lighter, (not in the case of the CSL 19") therefore offers less unsprung weight and less rotational mass etc.

dont see f1 cars with 19" rims do ya lol, big tyres tho

I agree, i do sometimes think i can feel the weight of the 230 19" and wonder what the 18" would feel like.

Big rims, for instance 20" on an E92 i think would be a bad idea for road holding, its a big car but rims that large will not help handling and will un balance the car i think with that extra weight!

All the development E92 M3's seen at the ring were on 18"

yeah but i was looking at 911 turbos for 35k. so 45k is alot more.

But makes more sense to get a 3 year old M5 for 35k dont it really. Whoops the E92 M3 aswell

I think if it was a New M3 id have to have the semi-auto. When it finally comes out, but a 997 turbo will be 50k in another 2 years (so 4-5 years old) and could be a good buy!

It depends what your going to use the car for, with the amount of miles you`ve put on the 335 Carl I think you`d be daft to buy a 996 Turbo for the same use. In 2 yrs time it would be 8 yrs old with prob close on 100 K miles. With a 996 Turbo of that vintage they need servicing every 12K with a major every 24K which aint cheap esp when the engine has to come out just to change the plugs. A friend has a 996 Turbo thats running at 525 hp but its had K`s spent to get it reliably to that figure.

Ive slackened off the miles now mate, well try to.. still prob do alot more than average tho. Try get the miswah to drive about a bit more now

But your right, that many miles on a 996 turbo would be too much!!

I think my neighbour might have sold his E60 M5 as there is now a 57n plate audi A4 1.8T on his drive. I guess 500 mile comute a week at 17mpg was getting a bit much.
