Service Question - Exhaust Emissions Check?
Hi Guys,
I just had the "Exhaust Emissions Check" service indicator popup on my 2006 E90 330i - can someone explain to me what it is? I looked in the owners manual - it doesn't give much info. It seems to be some sort of time based service - it came on as a yellow icon beginning 10/1. I called my service advisor to setup an appointment and asked him what it was and he was pretty much at a loss for what it was and said I needed to bring the car in I'm fine with that, but if it is what it sounds like (literally an exhaust emissions check), I'm surprised that BMW would mandate one - that is typically a state/city requirement. Thanks, Rich |

It is your annual state inspection. If your state doesn't require an annual inspection, I guess you can disregard it.

+1, there are not many states that have a state inspection ever year anymore so I am surprised BMW would had this. I know in new jersey, it is only every four years now for new cars.
