I had the option to change cars when my 11' 335is was totaled. Insurance paid out for the car. I still chose to get back in another IS (2013 ) over an E92 M3 because its more rarer, similar in terms of holding its value. Also couldn't pass the opportunity of low end torque, mod ability, ease of maintenance on N54 (IMO), plus a 7 spd DCT. It really comes down to preference. But if the IS model didn't exist and the option was between auto or 6spd manual 335i either N54/N55 then yes I would go with a M3.
