335i just arrived/ G35 just got smoked!

I just picked up my AW 335 e92.....soooo sick! Ive been trying real hard to keep it under 4k rpm for at least 1000mi.....been pretty good so far. My good friend took over my o4 G 35 cpe payments, so he wants to test me...i couldnt help it so i went thorugh each gear shifting at like 4500 rpm then in sixth i just floored it.....i left him soo far behind, looked at my speedo...it says 140 at like 5500rpm....i didnt even know it!(so much for break in g35 is no match...this car @ 140 has soo much more and handles soo much better than the G its amazing! 335i is a beast!!! ill post some pics....its raining now in NY

Ha ha...wrong G35, buddy. You'll have to wait another few weeks for the real test. It will be interesting to see what happens with the 335i vs. the beefier engines in the '07 G35 Sedan and the '08 G35 Coupe (out next fall, '07). Anything older are around 6 sec. 0-60 cars (a full second behind the 335i), and we should expect the 335i to blow it's doors off. I still suspect the 335i will still be a hair or two faster than the new G35 anyway. btw - I hope you and your friend weren't doing 140mph with pedestrian drivers all around you on the hwy., since that could make for a very costly and deadly accident. Be careful, have fun, but don't make poor choices.

will the new g35(or what ever they will call it) have more power than the sedan? because the new sedan beat the 330i. i know that 335 engined cars will kill that but if the new coupe get a better engine? any info?

If history repeats itself the coupe with have 20+ hp over the sedan. I'm pretty sure the new G35 coupe will have more ponnies then the 335i, maybe thats why they move the relase back one year to see what the 335i has to offer.

I am also confident the new G35 will straight out beat the 335i in straight line. However, I think you'll sit feel like you hit a wall everytime you make a sharpe turn on a G35.

Maybe... Maybe not.

1) The 335i in underrated by BMW so even if the G35 has 325hp its still competing with the current 335.

2) BMW still has some tricks up its sleeve. As we have seen even with minor tuning this car makes MUCH more power. Whos to say that BMW didn't undertune it to start with? This would allow them to bump up the power every year without making major mods. Also give em another year to work with it and they will probably have the turbo setup more refined.

I personally have no fear of the new G35. Stock *maybe* will be able to keep up with the '07 335... if so ill just grab an XEDE from Shiv and run his nice mild tune with 350 HP to the RWs.

Now the thing we might need to keep an eye out for is the new Lexus IS450/IS500 whatever they go with. That thing may be a beast. I hear the handling on the 350 isnt *too* bad and it has great power. Toss in another 100HP or so and that should be very interesting. But also this is where price comes in. The high end IS will probably be made to compete more with the m3/New Nissan-Infiniti Skyline GT-R/etc. So... 70k nicely loaded range. While I love BMWs for not too much more I can get a pre-own 03 or so Porsche Turbo which will put everyone in their place (unforunately not the most practical car - but DAMN fast).

I was about to buy a IS350 before buying a E92.
Then I test drove it and it was a bump/rigid ride. Felt marginally softer then a G35

I heard that the 07 G35 coupe will have 306HP engine. That's 8hp more than the old one. However, the engine block will be different with 2-stage intake. No information on 325hp yet.

Lets see it the lexus/infinity/acura makes any decent torque, after all thats why the turbo engine feels so good.

Two different rating methods.
The new rating is based on new standard.

It may be because I hadn't driven my 330i for a few weeks and was beating around a Sonata, but the 335i was so so fast. I'm sure in real world driving, it would kill a 330i. Seriously, KILL (At least in straight line acceleration. Handling will be similar but with the 335i inching higher). Either way, I will always love and cherish my 330i.

That is until I get a 335i.

Yeah, even with those mods on the older G35, I bet it's still a 5.5 sec. 0-60 car at best, while your new '07 BMW 335i Coupe is more like 5 sec. flat. Let us know how it goes.

Whats the point of comparing a new generation BMW to old generation G35.
330i vs G35 is more fair.
or
335i vs 08 G35.

A 350z with a couple of mods would give you a better run. Forget the g35, i wanna see how a 335i will stack up against a 350z (stock or modded). Somebody in the my350z.com forum has claimed that his 350z took a 335i. The Z's only mods were exhaust and test pipes. Could of been the drivers that determined the race though.

Didn't the old sedans with MT have the same HP as the coupes? I thought they have a stiffer suspension and maybe bigger rims, too. So basically, the 6MT version of the sedan is their "sport" version. Or was I misinformed?
