e90 LCI M-Sport Conversion with Air Ducts.
Notes For this conversion
Parts:
Here's a video showing the diffeences in the air ducts. I'll post more info and part numbers later Driver side duct I had to drill a hole and cut a square hole under it, so the bracket could sit flush with the fender liner. This is because of that hump. This also allows the duct to fully go into the hole in the fender liner. * I don't think you need to make the duct hole in the fender liner bigger, but I made the mistake of cutting it. Without cutting the hole for the bracket. The duct did not sit correctly in the fender liner hole and I don't think the air would of flowed correctly into the brakes. Passenger side duct I removed the bottom bracket of the duct. This duct is being held up by 3 bolts to oil cooler and a middle support bracket. Side bumper to fender liner 1 of the mounting points did not match, so I left that one bolt off. The other 1 mounting point did match. BUt overall it's not going anywhere. Top bumper bolts to fender and Middle bolts to the radiator support Everything matched up perfectly. Undertray Only the 2 outer bolts matched up and bolted to the undertray. You can drill the additional holes into the M-Sport bumper to match the mounting points to the Sport bumper, but the undertray is shaped differently too. I think it may be easier to just get the M-Sport under tray. PDC My body shop guy had to modify my core support to clear the 2 middle sensors along with rotating them. Since these the middle of this bumper is more recessed. I found this photo online: https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...d6&oe=579EBDEA Last edited by peterparker; 08-02-2016 at 09:45 AM.. |

Just what I needed, thank you for posting this!! I have been wondering specifically how the fender liners were different. I'm going to do the same on mine.
Also - your car looks fantastic |

Great info. From what I saw of another member's install on a LCI, it's the ducts that are absolutely necessary. The liners compared stock vs. M Sport look virtually identical. I'm going to hold off on those and see what's necessary for 328 M Sport ducts to bolt up to the liners it seems like it should work with minimal modification.
Now for the undertray, do you have photos? Apparently there's an adapter that bolts up to the front of the stock undertray to mate to the M Sport bumper.

This is with respect to the previous Weisslicht bulbs. The ones linked above are newer and might be even better as the LEDs are actually angled to the pickup points for the light on the optical rings. I'd love to see pics of these installed, they might be the best design yetCarcoverword
