need new clutch/flywheel

as title,,,damn,,never really had a warning,,just started giving a very bad vibration under floor/seats etc,,maybe thought an engine mount or summit like that,,but garage i go to has looked at everything including exhaust etc etc,,anyway £740 for whole clutch/flywheel fitted,,,,not cheap but it has to be done,,this car is with me till it dies now.....i am also getting the map which was from durham remaps looked at from jason at bw chiptune as im pretty sure this has caused the flywheel to break,,i has a rumble straight after the remap on drive home ..when putting foot down in say 4th when doing 50 mph,,was fine if in 3rd etc,,too much torque at 698 nm,,i wouldnt go to durham remaps again if my life depended on it,,,i had a bad experience as they also left a grommet out which goes around one of the strut bars,,i found it wedged next to the alternator,,could have taken the belts out,,also the smashed a piece of plastic poff my engine cover and lost the cap for the bolt which ties down both strut bars,,and when i phomned to complain ..i got,,we would never do anything like that,,ha ha i knew straight away they were cocks,,also guot a bit aggressive .so i hgave it back in spades and he soon calmed down ha ha .good company would have said,,fetch car back etc etc.anyway lesson learned.ps this is my e90 330d

Why didnt you go back straight away if you had issues on the drive home? If my flywheel started to rumble immediately I would of taken it back rather than let it destroy itself.

Garage List
I thought that you'd been running with 698nm for at least a year & that old flywheel had done 131,000 miles.
Not that surprising that it finally had enough & let go

yeh thats right,,its just it gave no indication of the sudden failure,,also i dont thrash the car to much,,a blast now and again, as i know the drive had a rumble low down i drove it accordingly,,and yes i know 131k is still quite a lot for original flywheel,,and 698 nm,,jason from bwchiptune offered to tweak the map as a favour a while back,,so im probably going to get that done...my old e46 330d had 158k miles and had been mapped by previous owner and then a better map by me for the 5 years i had it,,flywheel had a rattle when i bought it,,60k miles later and still the same rattle but driove fine,,still does as i see it now and again,,although its now matt black,,horrible it looks, thats youth
