Ugh. This is my buddy’s E91. He’s ok. A jerk on the highway was about to miss his exit so pulled in front and slammed on the brakes.

It’s the car I owned briefly before I found my AW M-Sport and sold this to him. Does this look totaled? What should he do with it? It’s nothing fancy, but he loves it and is heart broken. It's a base model xDrive, auto, no options except rear sun shades. 2011 with about 130K miles, well maintained - known maintenance history since new.

Oh man, what a bummer! Unsure if insurance will total it, however, I see the drivers airbag deployed, so that doesn't help. I would think mechanically it shouldn't be too hard to fix. Everything up front is the same as a sedan, so parts should be very easy to find. The airbag will be a healthy cost to replace, but not the end of the world.

If your buddy loves it that much and they total it, I would say to buy it back and then repair it. Should be very doable.

Bummer on the e91.
I’m still not over my e91 that someone crashed into.

But the insurance is going to total it 100%.

That sucks, I see more idiots doing stupid driving maneuvers like that....vs just getting off at next exit or paying the damn attention to where the fuck you are.

@JupiterBMW Nice work with the e91.
Have any of you guys come across ABS /DTC lights on an e91? A quick read around revealed it's the right hand rear speed sensor which is an inexpensive fix looks like but could it be a DSC pump and is that a labor intensive fix?

Very very totaled. Headlights, hood, radiator, fender, bumper, bumper support, and could be frame rails, lots of other stuff. Insurance adjusters don't know nor care about the silly BaT wagon market

This was the damage on my E91 I bought from Copart that I built my N54 swap onto. It is a fully loaded LCI car. I could have fixed it in a weekend, was just a fender, bumper, and a control arm and broken headlight tabs. This was totaled by insurance. I wonder if it was very close to not being totaled.

Nice. I think I saw watching that auction. Had saddle brown interior?

Sadly, I agree with the other posters.

Here is my e91 that the insurance totaled. Middle photos are after the accident, top and bottom are after repair.

I had to fight like hell to get them to agree to a reasonable payout. In the end they ended up giving me the car back for free and paid me enough to pay off the lien and get it repaired and upgraded to m-sport trim without money out of my pocket.
It's now an r-title, but I don't really care. I'm not planning on selling any time soon. Less than 80k on the clock.

Could be a bunch of things really to generate those lights but easiest is wheel speed sensor on one of the corners. DSC isn't that much labor but an expensive part if you're buying a new one.

Thanks, I haven't posted any finished photos here I didn't think, and haven't even posted much on the insta for it lately. I haven't touched it in a couple weeks really. I have the DSC system I am still fighting with CANBUS errors.

Yes this one came out of Atlanta copart, saddle, pretty much every option except M sport. There was another in DC area that was similar. Mine was AWD auto and is now RWD manual.

I think the rear speed sensors are a weakness. I have replaced a few of them -- e91 and e46it

Hard to believe that is considered totaled. Looks like a minor parking lot episode with mayhem behind the wheel.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, if they're going to total the damage you had, they'll total anything it seems. Good job getting it back and it looks great now!

Snapped these the other night when two of the three were in the driveway. Both dirty, but made for good shots!

May do 5mm spacer in the rear. Fronts 235/40/18 rears 265/35/18

Milvs / 3SI installed - tune scheduled for Feb 8

Beautiful pair you have there! I'll have to post a few pics of my pair as well.

It takes nothing to total an e91, especially higher mileage. This is what mine looked like, it had about 150k at the time of the accident. I had already picked some pieces of trim and headlight out of it before snapping this picture.

I hate to be this guy and ask, but was this recent? And what is happening with the car? I would buy those side view mirrors off it if you still have the car.
