BMW E92 CIC iDrive restarting every 90sec
Hello,
I just wanted to post a solution that worked for me personally to the CIC iDrive restarting problem I had. The problem: On my BMW E92 LCI 2010 model my iDrive suddenly began restarting every 90 - 120 seconds. When it finished restarting music, aux, radio, navi worked like normal again, until 90-120 seconds later it would restart again. This continued endlessly. Solution: Defect optic fiber cable. Replace cable (it has an orange color). For me it solved the problem. Just posting this for people who might have this problem and are looking for a solution, it might just that you have a broken fiber cable also. |

Hi Kraiden,
Where was your defect optic fibre cable located? My CIC Pro Nav iDrive keeps restarting after start up and on the odd journey it would randomly restart numerous times. My Logic 7 system, DAB, FM/AM, External Audio, Music Collection, CD/DVD, NAV and Bluetooth Talk all work perfectly fine so I'm not sure if its a module in the MOST. What would you recommend? Thanks |

The fiber cable provides no electrical signal to the CIC. As such it is unlikely to affect rebooting.
It is more likely that he inadvertently cured an electrical connection issue while working on the fiber loop. A broken fiber loop should have resulted in no sound, but not reboots. |

Hi,
I haven't visited this forum in a while hence my late reply. It turned out the cable wasn't the solution, because the problem came back after two weeks. Unplugging HD didn't work for me, kept rebooting. However, I got the CIC iDrive software updated and that seemed to fix the problem, no more reboots. I did not do it myself, a company here in the area did it for me (Not BMW self). Last edited by Kraiden; 12-03-2021 at 01:06 PM.. |
