Alfa Romeo 159GTA to challange the Germans ??

Well I don't know if this will really happen but this article below suggests that the awaited Alfa Romeo 159GTA will have a Masserati/Ferrari inspired 4.2L V8. I love my Alfa Romeo's but I think someone is dreaming here. At best, even if they do put that V8 into the 159GTA, it will sound sexier than a German V8!!!. Unfortunatly I doubt that car could challange an M3, RS4 or C63 on a race track.

I hope they do make a decent go of it...
However i've lost a lot of faith in alfa's, i love the look of the brera, but have you seen the performance of the v6 in that thing.... pitiful, the 1.9l 4cyl engine in a 320i allows it to do the 0-100km/h sprint nearly as quick... Now i know speed isn't everything, but... come on!!

The Brera is one sexy car. Actually, I think it was voted Europeans most sexy car in 2006. The 3.2L V6 is a bit old and heavy so it will be a bit slow off the mark. The same can be said about their 2L 4cyl but one thing that Alfa's are good at is their in gear accelleration (which you need to experiance to appreciate) and the engine note (pure sex) they produce. On the down side, because that 3.2L V6 is an old engine, it still use timing belts that need to be changed at 60,000klms or 3 years and at A$1500 a go, that sure is a big hit to the overall cost of ownership. The new 4cyl engines have gone chain and I suspect the 6cyls will go that way soon as well.

The times I have been in Alfa's, I have loved them, and I hope this new one is great too... Sounds like it should be good
