BMW cleaning kit - wheel cleaner in particular
hey guys
when i took delivery of my BMW the dealer recommended that i got the wheel cleaner from them. told me it was about $15 or something (supposed to last half a year) and all i needed to do is apply it onto the rims, let it soak for a while then hose it off to get all the brake dust off. just wondering if anyone's purchased this and if it really works? or if there's a particular brand that you recommend? thanks |

i just use plain soap and water. But sometimes i find the car wash soap i use makes the brakes squeak at times. So ive been a little hesitant lately. I am willing to try out the BMW one. BMW cleaning products are so cheap as it is, other stuff from AUtobarn like Maguires and AutoGleam can be more expensive!

The wheel cleaner is a waste of time, i just use a bucket of the car's BMW shampoo and a soft sponge...
I do use the BMW cleaning products though, they seem to work well and they don't leave your car smelling like shit lol

I'm with ASTRA with what I currently do to clean the wheels but I've often wondered how good the BMW wheel cleaner is. Therefore I'm also interested to hear from people who have used this product.

I have tried the BMW wheel cleaner and i didn't think much of it, however i have M135 wheels which could possibly be the world's hardest wheel to clean.

Do you have any picture for BMW wheel cleaner? would love to see that.
normally, 1 or 2 weeks i drive my car to car wash for $19. I hate the brake dust, its so annoying. my previous accord euro doesnt have this dust at all. |

A bit of polish will get that off. Something like turtle wax in the green bottle. I use that stuff just to get any marks off but then use the beter stuff like Swissol to polish the car. (Hmmm .. next polish over the Christmas break) |

Wheels are coated and hot brake dust and hot metal rotor particles cancause problems with the surface. Normal polish does not offer much protection to wheels. Give the wheels a good clean all over ( take them off the car and do all surfaces) then apply a wheel protectant/polish. Then just wash them with car wash and sponge. Poor Boys wheel protectant works for me. Available in Australia from www.waxit.com.

I use PS21 on the wheels, works a treat.
http://www.carcareproducts.com.au is where I get it from, Mike is the owner & a really nice guy. Tell him his sailing mate with the Montego 335 sent you and I'm sure he will look after you. Rgds, S |
