Ebay VC Gasket Yeah or Nay

With 124K miles on my E93 and a small VC gasket leak I want to replace the VC but to no surprise the cost for an OEM is $370-400+ Are there cheaper alternatives?

Anyone buy a new VC from ebay like the one posted here? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Engine-Valv....c100677.m4598

Are these any good? Did all of the PCV stuff work properly?

We all know ebay injectors suck. Ebay BOV's are questionable although mine seems to be working great. It's hit and miss with ebay just wondering if VC's were any different and if you did buy one and you had a positive experience do you mind posting a link.

The listing doesn't say where it's made. As with anything that requires longevity, I absolutely will not trust any plastic or metal products made in China.

Where are you getting your $370-400 figure?

Maybe I'm missing something but isn't a valve cover gasket for your N54 powered car just like $40, genuine BMW? Even from the stealer its like $69.99.

Sorry not the Valve Cover Gasket but the Valve Cover. I was told that if your car has over 100K miles on it you should probabbly replace the Valve Cover as the PVC system that's integrated into the VC goes bad.

Ah, gotcha. Sorry, I read you had a VC gasket leak and tunnel visioned on you wanting to replace the gasket. My bad.

Yeah, valve covers are expensive. I personally wouldn't use anything but OEM. Buy once cry once. Good luck!

I would never buy such an important part from eBay, let alone an unknown manufacturer. What recourse is there if it fails?

Typical ebay return policy I suppose there typically 3 months. If it fails reach back out to the vendor and they will ship you a new one. Done this multiple times with other cheapie china ebay stuff.

It's one thing if others have tried them and they work or provide info that they dont work. For example the fake TIAL BOV's seem to work rather well for a lot of people. Me for example :-) I'm all about saving a few bucks when I can.

I'm really looking for input from those that have already tried an ebay VC and see if they have fitment or other issues. I dont want to be the first but if others have already been there done that, then those are the ones I want to hear from.

If I was trying to save money I'd rather get this: https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...lve+cover,5772 , from RockAuto that at least has a warranty from a reputable company. It's $230, more than that $150 eBay item, but less than $370 for OE from FCP Euro.

Installation cost makes this 'saving' approach not so cost effective in the long run.

I kept the original VC replaced the vcg, pcv valve with RB pcv and breather hose.

I screwed something up doing the vcg and now getting vanos error codes but no leaks. My vcg was hard and brittle.
