I've seen you post the price of your car a few times on this forum but it still blows my mind every time. I still browse cars for sale every so often, but can never find a well spec'd, sub 100k e9x 335i without it being listed for 10-12k. Hell, I thought I found a decent deal when I got mine with all it's options, and I still paid over double what you did

It was mostly luck...it was a young kid who was selling it. His parents bought it for him, and he just wanted the cash to buy something new. His original asking price was $6,500.....but since it was overheating, and he really couldn't tell me what the problem was, I had to drive several hours with a trailer to pick it up. I figured it was something easy, but since I didn't know....I just kept talking him down.
I told him I would drive down with a trailer and pick it up for $3,500....no questions asked. He said ok...and the deal was done. That being said...I would never pay $3,600 for a crashed one with a bad title. It's just not worth that much.......maybe $2,500....maybe. Getting frame and body work done right is expensive, and then you still have the salvaged title issue. I'm interested in this project though.....it's cool to see someone putting one back together. Hopefully he's making some progress. |

Although this was a great attempt at labor of love, I think the OP realized that repairing this car was not worth it.
Considering he got a new job that has been taking up most of his time (as stated by him) I don't see this project coming back to light. |

He must be too deep into it to quit now. I thought he had most of the tricky/hard stuff done already and was almost ready for paint. Of course I may be remembering wrong, its been a while.

The last thing I saw was some really crummy welds on some of the structural parts that the body shop repaired for him.....maybe he called the project quits after he realizes what kind of quality a cheap repair got him, and how much it was going to cost to so it right.

This may have been said already..
From personal experience, wrecked cars always have more damage than you think. I've never bought an insurance car that ended up being less work than I was thinking. |

And apparently......I wasn't wrong. He paid way too much for the car...and got in over his head. Maybe OP will check in and give an update. |
