5w50 for the N55

Hi everyone,
I know this topic has been discussed like a million times.
But I wanted to know if anyone has used Amsoil 5w50 on thier N55 and how the results were. I live in the UAE where the temperatures are around 35C to 50C and during the 2 months of winter we have the temperature is around 10C to 30C. I am stuck between amspil 5w40 or 5w50 for a very very long time. The only reason I do not want to risk using a 5w50 is because what if the oil does not reach through out the engine and start having valve issues which as a matter of fact happened to my old car (jeep). Any suggestions or help would be great! The harsh weather conditions here really ruins the engine. So I want to make sure I run the best oil for my car accordingly. Appreciate all your help and support. Thank you!

putting 5w-50 is a mistake.. for many reasons. Doesnt matter where you live. The internal temperature of an engine is much higher then your climate.. 5w-50 is not an approved oil for these cars. As simple as that dont complicate anything.

If it doesn't have BMW LL-01 or LL-04 on the back label, don't use it.

These engines weren't designed to use a weight higher than 40. There's no reason to use anything higher. Car companies take their cars to death valley and run them up and down on the hottest days during development. LL-01 approved oils, or equivalent, can handle those temperatures.

Like they said use the recommended oil, if you're worried about temps then install an oil cooler.

Rule of thumb for any engine is to run the lightest oil you can without losing oil pressure. As everyone else has stated, stick with a w40 in hot climates.
