N54 to N55
Hi, as you know I have a N54 335i, recently saw a N55 for sale and thinking if I should trade in my N54 for it?
What I really like with this N55 are: DCT Comfort Access CIC iDrive LCI tail light (not really a huge upgrade) *This N55 is 2009 model, so the headlight is just the same as Pre LCI I don't really after power mods (my N54 is stock performance wise), and MHD now seems supporting N55 for Stage 1 tuning too if I really want the extra bit of power. Should I go for it? |

Lots more reliability, less high mod potential. I would get a full LCI car if you were wanted to do it |

That 2009 era was a bit confusing for the old e92 haha

I do not see a single late 2009 model N55 E92 on carsales that comes with LCI tail lights. Only 2010 models MY10.5 onwards are N55 E92 and comes with LCI tail lights. ALL 2009 E92 335i's whether MY09, MY9.5 or MY10 are N54 and comes with Pre-LCI tail lights.

Just got the vin number and checked that it is actually a N54 with DCT.
It comes with comfort access which I really like, CIC iDrive, DCT, brake energy regeneration, etc. But while it's not really a N55 with full LCI package, it doesn't seem worthwhile getting it. I agree with EB89, complete LCI model looks a lot better. This N54 with DCT, I would say a car with potential for power mod with a DCT (better than ZF 6 speed?) transmission. May wait for a while for the right one ticking all the boxes. Or even getting a E92 M3. |
