What exactly is the advantage of Stainless Steel?

Why are all exhausts stainless steel or titanium? What's the advantage? I'd much rather pay $600 or so for a metal exhaust instead of $1000+ for stainless steel. Is longevity the only bonus? The reality is if your buying $1000+ exhausts you'd probably buy a new car before it hits 100,000 or so miles. So whats the point?

Rust and excessive wear/blackening/destruction of a metal allow or other metals. THe heat and exhaust coming out of there would just trash many other metals and rust is a factor for longevity. A lot of people who by exhausts keep their cars for a long time
