Security adaptor for wheel nuts

Had my car a couple of weeks now. Is there a special hiding place for this. I have looked in the glove box, battery compartment and the cubby to the right of the steering wheel. Anywhere else I should be looking?

Cheers

Cheers rasa, unfortunately I do not have this. It’s a U.K. 2008 (pre facelift) 330ise.

Did your car come with a small tool roll (just the towing eye, a reversible screwdriver and a spanner wrapped in a plastic roll)? If so, the locking wheel nut key goes in there.

This is what came with my 2011 335i and 2012 M3, both of which are convertibles and so don't have the drop-down tray in the boot lid.

(You can normally pick these tool kits up on eBay for a few quid if you don't have one).

Unfortunately it didn’t come with the tool kit so thanks for the advice. The original owner is deceased and the car was sold by his stepson so it might be in his garage somewhere but I’ll just buy a new one. I’m assuming the security socket is ‘one type fits all bmw’s’. I shall order one from eBay.

Cheers
Steve

No - the security socket should be specific to the locks on your wheels. Otherwise any scrote could buy a standard one on eBay and use it to steal your wheels.

If the seller can't locate it, you may need to go to a BMW dealership and see whether they can supply you with the correct one based on your car's VIN. If not, you may end up having to drill them off (which needs to be done very carefully to avoid damaging the wheels).

You can bash a socket over the locking wheel bolt and get it off that way.

Dealers and specialists should have the nuts in stock though.

There's nothing in the grey plastic tray under the lid thing in the boot to the right hand side?

This...

So in the right hand side of the boot where the first aid pack is in the below picture, you'll notice the the other section has a corner cut out of the little carpeted bit, pull that up to reveal the toolkit and locking wheel nut adaper.

Ah, that’s great thanks. I had no idea that was there. The first aid kit has gone and so has the spanner and bent bit of steel but the important security socket is still there.

Cheers
