DVD Player option in IDRIVE menu

When I access the CD player function via idrive on the second row I see a grayed out option for DVD. What is that for? Seems like I should be able to play a DVD...

No but you can use the dvd drive to play mp3's, so you can fill a dvd up with loads of your favourites.
