Whats the widest size wheel you can run on 335i

Hi,

Im lookign to get some aftermarket wheels to fit e92coupe 335i and I was just wondering what sizes people were running? I want as wide as possible but without too much arch rolling/pulling required. Maybe 9.0j/9.5j front and 10.0j/10.5j rear?

Also with regards to sizes, if i'm planning on getting a BBK at sometime in the future is that something I should take into account now when ordering the wheels or can that jsut be resolved by using spacers when the time comes?

humm, well im running 8.5j front and 9.5j rear with 265/35/19 on my e46. I know some people managed to fit 10 or 10.5j rear on e46 non M3's so id like to see if anyone has managed to squeeze on 10 or 10.5j rear on a e92?

You can go 9.5" front and 10" back with 245/275 tyres on the pre lci e90 saloon and e91 tourer, but less room on the e92 coupe and e93 vert.

Best to go with 8.5" front with 235/35/19 tyre and rear 9.5" with 265/30/19 tyre. Ideal offset to fill out arches is et35. Any offset between et35 and et40 will fit straight on.

You could go for a more aggressive offset than 35mm, but you will probably need to roll the arches.

Thanks for that Nick.

I dont mind rolling arches to get them to fit. Would a 10j wheel fit on the rear which has ET between 35 and 40 then on a coupe? even if some arch rolling is involved. I think i may do that.

I just dont want to ever experience rubbing if i have a full car and boot .... would that still be possible if you fitted the widest tyre, offset and rolling the fender?

yes it would be if you went for a really aggressive offset and wide wheel. i think u can push the boudnaries to a certain limit without too many rubbing issues and then add some coilovers and adjust the ride height so that there isnt too much rubbing.

I dont want my rear wheels sitting right in the arch but jsut close over the tyre for a nice low look but not a completly decked drop.

Yeah a 10" wheel will fit on the rear of a coupe. With a lower offset of about et38 and a 255 tyre or even the right 265 tyre you wont need to roll the arch, but will look much better with the correct 275/30/19 tyre, but you will need to roll the arch.

If you fit 10" wheels on the back with 265 or 275 tyres, if the arch is rolled you shouldnt get any rubbing, even four up.

If you are running a coupe, I would play safe and go for a 9.5 rim with 265/30/19 tyres. Thats what I got on my car. Fills out the arch nicely with et35 offset.

265/30/19 is prob an easier tyre size to get hold of then the equivalent 275 right nick?

also does the width of the wheel determine how much dish u get on the rim? I want max dish lol. Im hoping to get the ICONZ 630zr rims from a vendor on here in the US section.

Yep 265 tyre is easier and cheaper to get hold of than 275 and oem 255 sizes!!

The width of thw wheel does determine how much dish you get. But it's also a style thing. Infact most wheels these days are flush. Most of the bigger BMW oem staggered wheels are flush. The most important thing when changing to aftermarket alloys is the offset. Even a 9.5" wheel will not fit if the offset is to aggressive. For instance an M3 wheel with et27 offset will not fit the coupe!

cool, i'll double check with the vendor abotu the ET's but they shoudl be the correct size for e92 coupe. Ill most prob go for 9.5 or 10j at the back (leaning towards 10j) What size should i go for at front? 9?

What suspension do you have nick?

On the front 9j should be ok with a 235 or even 245 tyre. Although I would personally go for 8.5 with 235 tyre. Just make sure you get the correct ET. Nothing too aggressive if you are going 9" front and 10" rear. The USA vendor's will be able to advise

My 335i is completely stock except wheels. Standard M Sport suspension. I got an AUC warranty, so dont want to chance modifications. I got the car up for sale with dealer at the moment, but nothing much selling!! So will get back at end of month. I do have a K&N filter to fit, and will order a JB tuning box because I can take that off for service or warranty work!

ye, a lot of the 335i's up for sale on autotrader have been doing the rounds on there for months. I hope i get the one i want this weekend. fingers crossed.

O really, standard M sport suspension, the drop is quite nice on your wheels in the pic u put up which is why i thought maybe u got a diff set up. I'll prob go with some bilstein coilovers when i get round to it.

Il try go for an 8.5 front and 10 rear with the correct offsets. Il get the vendor to confirm.

I'll echo Nick's comments about the 8.5j and 9.5j et 35 combo on the coupe. I've got the same setup with 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 and it fills the arches perfectly and I've not had rubbing even with 5 full size adults in the car (not the best idea tbh).

I have the stock m-sport setup but you might need a bit more camber at the rear if you're going to drop it.

Think you will be OK with those sizes.

Just checked out your link. Those wheels are stunning. Seem very popular over in the States! Cant wait to see them on your 335i with a set of BBK brakes.

Lets hope you get your new car at weekend, then let the mods begin

Ye, those rims are sick, wish we had a UK vendor for them based here but the guy in the US is very helpful so hopeful things will work out as planned.

The vendor said when they make the wheels they can custom them to whatever ET i want so if i was to go with 8.5j front and 10j rear what ET would you ideally suggest if I could chose?

Also looks like im gona have to wait till next weekend for the motor as the seller is out of the country from tomorrow for a week. bummer.

I think the ideal offset for your new wheels will be ET38 front and ET35 rear.

As you are going for a 10j rear I guess you may have to roll your arch a little, but you may be ok if you go with 265 tyres.

Nick, the thing is its not gona cost me anymore to go with a bigger wheel, so i mayaswell try and go for 10j rear. Ive never had arch rollign done before but hopefully it shudnt be too difficult to get done by a good bodyshop? OR shall i jsut play it safe and go 9.5 rear? lol, sorry, i know ive asked this a million times in this thread.

Also im thinking of taking a gamble and getting CF centres rather than black centres on the wheels and hoping they look good against the black car along with one ot 2 other bits like front and rear spiltters if i leave in carbon fibre. What you rekon? If it looks dud i can always jsut get the rims sprayed black after

ET34 on a 9.5j wheel with 275/30/19 tyres (Vreds) with Bilstein PSS10's:

ET35 on a 9.5j wheel with 275/30/19 tyres (Falken's) with Bilstein PSS10's:

I found 275 tyres cheaper than 265's and 255's from both Vredestein and Falken, prices from Camskill and tyres supplied by them.

The first pic is of G-Power wheels, the rear offsets are ET46 and these are then fitted with a 12mm spacer to achieve an offset of ET34.
The wheels do go on without the spacer but disappear into the arch.

Personally, and apologies for contradicting Nick, I'd not risk buying a 10" wheel with an offset of ET35 (E92),if it rubs your screwed and even rolling the arches may not cure the problem, this would also worsen if you are thinking of lowering springs or coilovers.
I'd look at ET40 for the rear as a minimum, and possibly more (max ET46), by doing this it will give you more maneuverability in terms of tyre size choice and the use of spacers should they be required.

ET38 on a 9j rim in the front with either a 235/245/35 tyre would be just dandy

I love the 2nd pic and the low prof tyre, proper thin wahoooo lol....I think your right hotcoupe. I think Nick was actually advising me to stick to 9.5j aswell and i think u guys are right. I'll just play it safe and go for a 9.5j rear and 9j front then (will 9j front def fit ok?), with 275/30/19 on the rears and what for the front?

In terms of ET il go for whatever the vendor recommends. He was saying the majority of the wheels he sells were in the low 30's but says i can have them set o whatever i want and hel make sure they will fit. So ill just say i want ET beweent 35-40 as per nicks advice. or between 35-45.
