Thanks guys.

Trying to get the car configured for track day in case the weather cooperates tomorrow (the weather forecasts are just not able to predict accurately more than a few hours ahead with this present system that's sitting on top of most of the midwest). Had to remove the rear diffuser to get the straps on to hold the car down, need to get the drag radials ready, will probably pull some parts of the inside for weight reasons, need to drain some fuel ...

Yes, the one graph with 310 wheel horse power is the Ecotune by itself. No H2O/meth or my other stuff.

These runs also have me curious as to where the power drops off on our cars. At 4200ish its still going strong. Are the shift points raised in the tune and if not would they benefit us with this pipe?

TDI, are you running a Wagner or OEM IC?
Running the OEM intercooler plus H2O/meth on the runs that were with my custom stuff added to the Ecotune stuff (the Ecotune only run did not have H2O/meth). The OEM intercooler is more than adequate for my setup and I don't see any data that shows a bigger, heavier intercooler would improve anything.

So to get the rpm info, the shop uses the transmission ratio's and tire size and then we "calibrate" at 2000 rpm's when the dyno is spinning. I had GPS data to know exactly how fast I'm going at 2000rpm in 4th gear (the gear we dyno'd at). Same protocol as the previous Evolve tests. But with this system setup you have to predetermine the start/stop mph for the SuperFlow dyno. It was $100 for 3 pulls, and if I put in too high a mph number and I letup on the fuel before we got to the top mph ... then no data would be recorded. So I played it a bit safe and stopped at ~4200 rpm. On the Android Torque app I tend to record peak hp at nearly 4500 rpm with my setup. But the hp curve is quite flat for a long stretch of rpm's.

Thanks.

Due to some of the issues with calibrating the rpm's on the dyno I wasn't able to get all the low rpm stuff. Plus, those fricken rollers on his dyno are heavy and HUGE so the dually trucks can fit on it. Takes a lot to get that extra mass spinning.

The crazy thing is if you pick your drivetrain loss numbers and back calculate to the crank hp/tq ... I'm a little higher on the crank-torque numbers the transmission is dealing with than I expected. I'll just have to be careful about that.

Interesting....So do you notice if Ecotune raised the shift points with the tune?

It may be something worth looking into. That pipe has to open up/extend some amount of power upstairs, so with higher shift points you should see faster times....

Haven't noticed any difference in the shift points.

I ran the 12.65 and 110+ mph trap speeds on the Evolve+custom setup which dyno'd at ~327 whp on this same dyno using the same protocol/setup. With ~40 more hp and less weight (I'm about 50 lbs lighter with all the stuff that's been removed) I'm hoping for something close to the low 12's.

Looks like strong cross/head winds tomorrow at the track location. Sub optimum conditions...

TDIwyse, this is amazing. Thank you for posting all this data for the rest of us. Looking forward to getting the pipe and the tune.

Low 12's is not bad at all!

I really wish we could get someone to do a trans tune for these cars that makes manual mode a true manual mode, stays in gear up to the rev limiter. I don't know about you guys but I would pay good money for that....

I think there was a discussion on this or other forum about upgrading the tranny to the Alpina tune, but they tried and tried and as far as I know were unsuccessful.

Didn't want to thread jack but yea, I've been following that discussion. We really need to find someone to make it happen. The only thing I hate about this car is the slushbox!

Back on topic....I can't wait to see those track times tdiwyse.

Agreed on tranny!

Awesome news otherwise!

Well, the drama on here seems to have died down, so I'll try to keep posting data here and may not start a new thread...

Some of the interesting Bavarian Technic Data below.

It always amazes me to see how effective the H2O/methanol is on reducing IAT's. Notice how dramatic the reduction in Intake Air Temps is when it kicks in and how it also reduces the EGT's even with significantly more wheel horse power over the base Ecotune remap without H2O/meth.

A comment about exhaust smoke because these pulls were done in an enclosed area without venting the exhaust (because the 335d has dual exhausts and they had the capacity to only vent one exhaust tube). The Ecotune remap with downpipe did not produce significantly noticeable exhaust smoke. However, when stacked with my stuff, above ~4000 rpms's, it's a smoke show that made the diesel truck guys nod with appreciation ...

Your information has me sold on the methanol injection. I was originally planning on the wagner intercooler but I'd rather put my money towards meth because it's far more effective...

I was told that the X5 pipe is almost identical to the 330d pipe overseas. Someone just has to send their pipe over to have it looked at.

Why would you go any where else those figures are fantastic TDI! Kinda to be expected, dont think any of the 35d guys over here have h2o inj. Over 500 lbft at wheels your car will be like chuck norris. Ecotune really know their 35d's. They built a 414bhp one with hybrid turbo's over here.

Took the csv data files from the previous Evolve only run and overlaid it with the Ecotune + Downpipe only run for a direct comparison (no H2O/meth or extra fueling on either of these ... just tune vs tune). This is from the same dyno with the same protocol, except the Evolve run had a fan blowing on the front of the car and the Ecotune had no fan.

Don't think the track is going to happen today. Doesn't look like it opens until 8pm for their Midnight Madness stuff. And that's too late for this guy ... I'm a morning person.
