Bov On N55 !
I already know that there is a DV on the turbo itself. But I bought this charge pipe without knowing. So the question is if I install this without getting the bov flange welded shut and I attach the bov. Will it hurt/harm the engine or will it pretty much make a little cool sound and do nothing beneficial mechanically?

Honestly I test fitted it and it fits perfectly with the clamps and all. Took it down the street for a drive a bov works fine no problem. Please educate me on the vacuum line, also if this could cause any major problems for me should I get the bov welded shut or keep it. To me its like a secondary pressure release since the turbo already have a DV.

I don't know that much about BOVs but I'd guess if you don't have a vacuum line connected then the BOV will never open and "blow off" when the throttle closes. It's essentially acting like a normal charge pipe. I guess you might actually be fine if you don't have a vacuum line going to the BOV because you still have the DV.

That doesn't sound right. A blow off valve should be closed when accelerating. Once you get off the gas and the throttle closes the BOV will open to release the built up pressure in the charge pipe.

Maybe while the throttle is open the piston must be compressed by that pressure. So I must be just blowing air out of the bov while accelerating and once the throttle is closed the bov is shut? Last edited by LoneWolfPistol; 08-03-2018 at 10:32 AM.. Reason: more info* |
