Exhaust is too quiet
I drive a e92 and have a vrsf Catless downpipe and finally got a chance to do the pe mod, I'm really surprise how quiet the exhaust is still, the burbles are loud but he exhaust itself is so quiet. should I cutout the secondary cats?

What’s up OP... so, I was in the same boat. I had the exact same set up and figured I was also too quiet. I’ve tried 3 different solutions and found out that nothing cures my disease. I took off my secondary cats (made it a bit raspy around 3100 RPM). I’ve done the straighter pipe route (doesn’t sound as good). And, I’ve tried a different exhaust like a VRSF and HPF. At the end of the day, I went back to my catless Downpipe and PE. It sounds good. I love it. Yeah, I wish it was louder; like an NSX or E90 M3. But, I just came to realization that it will never happen been trying to achieve this for many many years

I have a RWD E90, so there are no factory secondary cats on my car. Though I can say that with my VRSF catless DP and the PE exhaust mod, my car is PLENTY loud. The E90 is actually pretty well insulated, so not a whole lot of noise comes through the cabin with the windows up. Windows down is a whole other story.
I think the catless DP and PE exhaust mod is probably the best setup you can have on these cars. No drone, loud when you want it to be, quiet when you don't. A buddy of mine has a muffler delete and the exhaust tone is much deeper and more drone-y, I wouldn't suggest it.

Do the Golf tee mod. Unplug the connector behind your left taillight that supplies vacuum to the exhaust flap. Keeps the flap open.

Currently Catless downpipe, resonated midpipes and PE modded muffler. I got to drive my mates PS2 N55 thats catless and PE exhaust and man i fell in love. I think i need to go and have my resonators removed.

Do you think it was the PS2 that made the difference? I talked with a buddy of mine who installs it, and may be looking into it.

Sounds so much better, but still not as loud as my mates car, close. He also has a 135i N55, the Exhaust is a little different, that could make the difference, the midpipe and muffler change into 1 instead of 2 like ours is all the way back. I get no where near as much spool sound as he does, but I run the factory intake and he has the BMS. He also has a diverter valve upgrade so he gets cool sounds turbo flutter. |

- Catless Downpipe - Straight mid pipes - PE Exhaust or PE Modded Exhaust So basically straight pipe from turbo to the muffler

But a did add resonators to the midpipes where your cats would be because i thought it was too loud, i recently had those removed again and love it.
