Here are a couple images from the latest 3 series brochure of the Barrique Red Metallic color available Sept '05. Looks like a burgandy-copper color.

U can almost say it is an individual custom ordered color because we are not going to see alot of it. I have not seen it in person but I don't think it would look that bad or bmw will not offer it. It does not look very appealing in these photos.

Barrique was my second choice (I went with Mystic Blue in the end). I think it will be nice - dark brownish-red metallic.

I think if it looks anything like the configurator it should be great. Somewhat maroon, I like the uniqueness of it. It might be my first choice after I see it in person.

I just stopped by my dealer during lunch and picked up that same brochure. The thing about that "photo" is that is doesn't look anything like the color "sample" shown at the top of the page OR like the color shown on the bmwusa configurator. So, to say the least, I'm confused as to what it will actually look like.

My dealer had two Barrique Red sedans on order: One was for an ED purchase, and the other was a stock vehicle. Both were due in October. I'm very anxious to see the stock vehicle when it arrives at the dealer. My salesman seemed to think it will be a "dark burgundy" color.......which is exactly what I'm hoping for.......not too red and not too purple.

You guys don't remember Sienna Red? Looks about the same as that did in photos. Looked pretty good in person, but didn't fit the character of a BMW imho. But then, BMW's should only be black, white, silver and gray in my book too.

My local dealership has a painted swatch of Barrique. The photos at the top of the thread look too brown to my eyes - spicy yes, but a little too much cinnamon. I think the configurator renderings are closer - more like red wine.

It's certainly an interesting color, and that you aren't going to see yourself across the intersection very often is an attraction. Nothing will beat seeing Barrique on a real car before deciding of course, but that may prove difficult to do. Any and all photos will be appreciated.

Apparently all the BMW dealers feel the same way, because those are the ONLY colors I have seen on the lots, so far......

I've been waiting for a cool burgundy car since I started driving - I have yet to find one......so, my fingers are crossed!

That would be great, duddym... Dealers (and hence buyers) here seem to be conservative when it comes to color choice. Although I did see a 330i in electric red on the lot - quite stunning. I didn't expect to see that, so you never know they may get brave and bring in an example of Barrique.

Hey Jwocky, that's a pretty good close-up of Barrique as I recall it. I can't wait to see it on an entire car - the shadows from the body creases and reflections and highlights will make it a standout.

I ordered it - now did I get the right interior?

I took the swatch pictures above. The color is not as brown as the brochure picture shown at the top of the thread and not quite as red as the swatch picture appears. Like all of the colors offered the Barrique sample I have looks different in sun, shade, and indoor lighting.

I ordered a Barrique 330i Sport with Black Leather & Aluminum. Since ordering I've seen the Terra/Aluminum pictures (haven't seen it in person) and think that might be better looking than Black - kind of staying with the earthy tones theme.

Terra or Black with Barrique? Hmmm.....Better call the dealer to find out how long I have to make up my mind.

I have a Terra interior, but with the Barrique Red I'd go with Black interior. That's one reason I didn't go with Black for my Sapphire Black exterior. I wanted something different to break it up from being all one similar color.

I think the Barrique Red will look very similar to the color I have on my Jeep; Sienna Red. The color looks awesome in the bright sunlight, but very dull and boring on overcast days.

More Barrique Samples

Here are a few more comparison photos for the Barrique swatch. The closest color match is Merlot Red (Z4) with Barrique just slightly less red.

Yeah, I still need to see it in person to decide. It looks different in just about every photo I see, depending on the background and lighting. But, I think it has the potential to be my #1 choice......

BTW, gray leather sport seats with walnut is my interior of choice - of course, it will have to pass my wife's "the seats better be comfortable" test......
