Turbo help?!

so i was doing some spirited driving last night being a show off when all of a sudden my half engine light came on. my car was still driving normally but i obviously wasn't trying to floor it. i was hoping it would just go away when i shut it off

so i shut it off and turned it back on. the light was gone but my BOV system wasn't making any noise.

this morning i took a closer look and it turned out my charge pipe got disconnected.

i tried to fit it back together but it's pretty tight under there.

i'm really posting to ask: has this happened to anyone? is it a big deal?

Garage List
I have had other turbo vehicles and while running a lot of boost, I frequently had IC/Charge Pipes blow off.

That being said, it has never happened on my BMW - but my BMW is all stock.

Is your car modified - are you running stock boost?

no i have quite a bit of boost. i was always scared of something happening

is it as simple as just re-connecting it?

If I think I understand you correctly, it became disconnected when under a full load of boost, made a loud crumpling sound and the half engine light came on. If that's the case, you can reconnect the pipe - and where the pipe connects you turn the clamp device so that it won't come off again.

Yeah, you can do that and clamp it like someone else said... Or look into an aftermarket charge pipe.

Yes it can happen, of course. Some aftermarket charge pipes are more prone to popping off then others.
