Check the red/blue dial in the middle of your dash near the vents. Make sure it's set to blue.

My A/C is damn cold. So cold that I usually end up having to turn it way down at some point or turn the knurled wheel a bit to the red side. Otherwise, my hands turn into icicles. I can't just leave it on auto. YMMV.

To make it cold, make sure the knurled wheel is on blue. If the back seat vents are on, then turn that wheel to blue, too.

Yeah this has been noted before. The AC unit isn't the best on blistering hot days (especially with black exterior/interior - or both), but then again I'm not really sure other cars do much better. American cars have always had exceptional AC, at least historically. About the only thing GM knows how build it seems.

Doubtful there's a problem with your car in particular though. Crack the sunroof for a couple of minutes and let some of the heat escape.

Weird.. I rarely have to use Max. Maybe for a minute or two on a 110 degree summer day when I first get in the car. I have black leather but tinted windows.

haha ya american cars have the sickest A/C units. our F450 cools better than the 335i and its 3x the cabin space lol

Yup, same in our '09 F350 Crew. It's black/black just like my E90, but does a much better job cooling.

The simplest way to check your AC is to stick a food thermometer in one of your vents. Within a minute it should read at least 60 degrees or even much cooler.

You're right on that. We used to have an IS350 in the family and could drive that on 100 degree days with the sunroof wide open - and still had to turn down the AC.

I vent the sunroof for about 2 minutes to let the 100+ degree heat escape and then let the a/c handle the rest. Takes about 3-5 minutes before I can turn max off. Also, tint your windows if you haven't and use a windshield sun shade. That cuts down the heat a lot. Remember, the heat comes from the surfaces in the car, not the air inside. The more they are covered, the cooler your car.

Our car was low on Freon with no sign of any leaks. If you're still under warranty (and none of the other suggestions above solved your problem), head to the dealer.

Also, if the ventilated cup holder is on and the rear seat vents are open, it will take air away from the 4 main vents up front, make sure they're off/closed.
