Check what index your injectors are. Usually if you replace the coils/plugs and it still stutters a little bit during startup, then it could be your injectors. That was my issue.. Index 12 injectors are the most up to date right now. You'll need someone to code them in after you get them installed.

You should have tried a bottle of Techron fuel injector cleaner first... I had a similar issue one morning and tried this and went away...

i should do it again...

My mechanic had tested all mine and no faults were found. Possibility why mine weren't registering the fault was because they were still delivering the necessary fuel but it can be a matter of changing spray patterns that can make the idle rpms stumble. My mechanic and i tried swapping out a few injectors at a time but still continued. I know its a hefty investment, but i recommend biting the bullet and upgrading all to index 12 since you are going to have down the line anyways if your not already running 12s.

Just read over this post and maybe I missed something, but have you gotten a Bav Tech cable yet to pull codes? Based on your erratic idle I would say its characteristic of a bad or unplugged camshaft position sensor. With your intake removed shine a light down on the side of the block just below the throttle body and forward of starter. Sometimes while messing around with the wiring loom below the throttle body that little sucker can come undone, OR its not totally unheard of for that sensor to go bad.

vanos solenoids.... that is another option. when my went bad is a progressive problem over about a period of 6 months or so. 135 a piece, there is two of em. takes 10 min to change.. if you have not changed them in a while or bought the car used and don't know, take em off an spray with air, clean em up. sometimes they jus fail on the spot, and other times, like me, they get worse over time.

Exactly my thoughts on the CPS but he never stalled yet which was kinda odd.

I believe the current recommendation is to replace both injectors in that particular bank. This is what I did when I ran into injector issues, but instead of footing the bill for 2 new oe injectors I visited the local BM wrecking yard and picked up 2 oe injectors from a wrecked E92 with low miles, which were also the same index as my current injectors, thus negating the need to code.

Well I replaced all the injectors in bank 2 with some index 8 injectors and now I'm only misfiring on cylinder 4 and 5 six is perfect now. Car idles good slight misfire here and there but subtle not like before. Cat drives smooth except now I'm not boosting at all either. I only get the half engine indicator but no ses and drives like an NA motor. Any ideas to what we could've missed?

My car just started doing this as well. The only difference is it only happens during startup. Once car is put into reverse or drive the jumpy rpm's immediately stops.

Hey man I had the same issue with my car but my problem was the battery had a low voltage and wouldn't hold a charge. I replace my battery and it fix the issue. The BMW dealer told me when the battery is low it shuts down certain parts of electrical parts of the car to keep it running save and only having certain electrical parts running still. I'm new to BMW so when I first heard this I was shock that a battery would cause a rough idle. Maybe this will help.
