Rebuilt titles typically have no warranty , one of the reasons why the cars go cheap at insurace auctions. I've bought 2 in the past. One car was brand new off a dealer lot with hail damage, paid 15k less and paid for 3k of body work to make it new again. No warranty though

I am new to this site. I get two codes 29f4 and 29f5

I have a 2011 328xi drive. I did the tune up brakes rotors and sensors. The codes were cleared. The shop I went to said if these codes came back on then i would need to change my catalyst. That is expensive. Please advise.

Halos need changing and the shops I have been to advised this should be done by BMW only. I did not understand that as it two bulbs. Is it because it is electrical? or location?

Fuel

Certainly seems to be fuel in my opinion. I had similar codes come up on my '07 N52. I was running regular gas in the winter, after pending codes coming up a couple of times I pondered and researched my next move.... switched back to supreme and codes never came back. Hope this might help...

These codes are for catalyst efficiency. Regular vs premium fuel makes zero difference - the engine is tuned to run on both.

I agree, but premium will burn better which in turn sends different signals to the oxygen sensors and change how the catalytic converters do their job.

No, absolutely wrong. It burns slower, but the ratio of air and fuel doesnt change at all.

I have 2 E93s, an E70 and an E61 (2 N54, 1 N55 and 1 N51). I get this code only on the E61(N54) and all of the cars get the same gas. This is the car I drive the least, though, and it is now the car with the highest mileage. Not the 02 sensors. Could just be crud in the system but I get the code pretty frequently. My EX-mechanic said it was fuel injectors (wrong. This car has the good-revision post-2012 injectors that don't leak and the engine throws no other codes.). I have Ista software and am going to try to recalibrate the 02 sensor system.

Halo bulbs are stupid easy to change. Couple of decent Youtube videos. Any machanic that tells you BMW should do it is not a mechanic you should be going to.

I’ve been having this same code for month after installing AFE header. I replaced both post o2 sensors and light cams back on. In the process of reflashing O2 delete tune. If the problem persists i was reading it’s due to bad crank ventilation valve which is the diaphram on the valve cover. So far that’s all the possibilities I’ve read, good luck

Does anyone know how O2 delete flash works? Is it only lowering the voltage threshold so that CEL does not light up? How are fuel trims handled?

typically just the codes are deleted. No other parameters are changed - the rear O2 sensors still need to be present.

you can't delete the primary O2 sensors though.

I am starting to get the 29f4 / 29f5 now that it is winter in Cali. I think my issue is either the batch of gas or maybe dial in the fix from 5 O’Clock to a little strong of 4:30

I also have 100k miles on my coils... that could be doing it too?

Don’t know if this thread is still alive but I have the same fault code 29f4. On a 2008 328xi. Came up few months ago. Shop reset it. Fine for few hundred miles came back. I do have a Muff/res delete. But seems like other ppl have the same issue.
Not sure what it is, helppp ya boi.
Could it be:
Maf sensor ?
Both O2 sensors ?

Would straight pipe bypass this whole issue?
