best brake pads for E90 n54

Hi guys,

With your experiences... What's the best brake pads for the e90 N54.
Obviously you guys know that the brake pads are notoriously dusty.
Are there any pads that don't have alot of brake dust?

Thanks in advance!

You are asking two different questions, what are the best and which ones minimize dust.

You need to answer the questions;
How do I drive my car, track or street?
Daily driver?
Best initial bite?
Dusting is the only interest?

In my opinion, the best all around brake pads available for the e90 335i is the OEM BMW pads. There are many that are still good but each one focuses on other options (like dust) hard braking stability or 1000 other options.

Yes your right I should have been more clear on my question... Was a bit too general.

Anyways my car is a daily driver and street purpose only.
I like the factory brake pads but they put out too much brake dust.
Could use a bit more braking power on the pads.

The list of mods on my car currently are:

Jb4 with BEF
Burger motorsport Chargepipe with tial bov
Burger motorsport dual cone intakes
Vacuum lines all replaced with silicone lines

how often do you wash your car? OEM pads aren't bad at all if you wash at least once a month. also, if you're on the original OEM pads, it's likely the compounds you have are legacy.

I wash my car every week.... The brake dust gets on my factory wheels prob 4-5 days after my wash.

Also quick question....does the e90 M3 brake kit work on my e90 335i without modifying anything? Would it be a straight swap? Assuming not as the disk brakes are bigger correct?

F80 M3 brake swap is more popular than E90 M3. It won’t solve your dust issue though... it will likely make it worse. Rather expensive option as well, but cheaper than a dedicated BBK.

Get new wheels that are easier to clean, ceramic coat them, spray them down once a week and run some stoptech sport pads and call it a day.

I've been reading some forums and alot of people like the Akebono pads. Good stopping like oem and little to non brake dust. So I may give that a try.

I have Akebono on all four corners. No dust. Don't miss washing the wheels every week.
My son has Akebono's on the front of his Golf. Very clean wheels. The rears are black. We'll be replacing the rears with Akebono this spring.

Just installed Stoptech Sport pads with Stoptech zinc coated drilled / slotted rotors front and rear. After bed-in, these are by far my favorite. They stop HARD and have great heat tolerance. I had to do 8 hard stops just to get the pad up to temperature then did an additional 12 stops to grind off the zinc and to fully coat the pad layer onto the rotor. They look pretty sick as well.

It will depend on how much you drive in a month and how hard you brake not on car wash frequency.

I thought the F8X calipers fit but you had to swap out the rotors?

Calipers are part of the brakes and only the fronts fit.

If you DD your car, Akebono are the best pads going for those who don't want brake dust. They do take about 500 to 1000 miles to fully break in.

Awesome thanks!
Yes my car is a daily driver.
Do you think just changing my brake pads to Akebono is enough for my set up?
