Tracking a 335xi

Has anyone tracked their 335xi AT on a road course?

If so, did you experience transmission limp mode or overheating?

I was wondering if it was worth setting up the car for road course driving or selling the car to buy an EVO X?

All n54 equipped cars are prone to overheating issues due to the engine oil temperature. This throws the car into limp mode until normal temp is reached. Many combat this with upgraded oil coolers and or modified or no oil temp thermostat. I believe that this is the main issue before water temp or trans fluid temp issues. Outside of that the car tracks relatively well for being a heavy street car from what I have seen and read.

I've run mine twice.. Sonoma and Thunder Hill in Northern CA. Both times I got limp after 4-5 hard laps. At thunder hill I was able to pull off....shut down and restart and it was back on. Wasn't an oil temp issue so I'm assuming it is heat soak (I have an AMS fmic) or tranny? I don't have an oil cooler.

The xi is nice as a beginner driver car in that it really grips and is pretty stable. Paddles are nice for quick shifts and keeping both hands on the wheel.

Definitely would want to get an oil cooler upgrade and some meth for cooling. I was running an e40 e85 PTF map last time and I'm sure I should have run a different map with lower boost target as I hit 17+ consistently.

Can't wait to get back out now I've got KW V3's and some Vorshlag camber plates.

I did a whole track weekend with a local Audi club with no issues until the last day. I don't yet have an oil cooler, but the temp was never above like 65 the whole weekend either.
