N55 Flood
Hi,
I have an E93 335i. I want to know if there is any lower intake that would suck in water? In Houston, there was a flood a few days ago. The water did not pass the exhausts or into my car. I want to know if there is any intake that is so low that could suck in water when it was about 10 inches high? As precautionary, so I flush the coolant and change oil? |

No. Since you are asking I'm assuming you have a stock air box. It sucks in air above the radiator. You did submerge the intercooler and probably turbo piping. Assuming the engine is still running you shouldn't need to do anything. If the engine is not running you probably hydrolocked it.

Thank you for your response.
Yes intake box is stock. My car was running fine because I used it to get home that day, and that was last Thursday. Did not touch the car since then. Today, I started the car, it sounded fine but Engine Malfunction Light turned on. I want to know what I need to check. I think I did submerged the FMIC. If water got into that, what is the damage? What should I check and clean? I need to take it apart to replace it with 5' FMIC anyways, I will do that today! Last edited by nate93; 09-23-2019 at 12:13 PM.. |

If water didn't get to the exhaust, is there anyway that it could get into the turbo? I think the turbo is above the downpipes, and water was not that high. I plugged in with ISTA-D. It showed up many codes, so I cleared all. Many were just false alarms. I will run it in the next few days to see if any code popped up. Also, my battery is 8 years old. I have seen my car doors unlocking itself unexpectedly. I know it can cause a bunch of weird things. Could that cause the ECU to show engine malfunction light? Thank you very much for your help. |

Oil residue is normal. Would be a good idea to replace the battery if you keep getting electrical codes. Electrical codes would pop up a check engine light.
