n54 OEM motor mounts and 3M window weld
Any thoughts on adding window weld to a new set of motor mounts?
seems like an easy, cheap modification that would add some stiffness without much NVH (Noise, vibration, and harshness) but I wanted to know if anyone had any real thoughts on the idea? I know the IS mount is an upgrade but I wanted to explore this option. youtuber Vehicular DIY

You can also use Polyurethane mixes. But here's the kicker, the bottom piece is still filled with liquid.
Good if you want less vibration, bad if you want performance of a solid rubber. Not sure how long that window weld will last next to engine heat. There's a ton of heat on turbo. |

About to put in poly on new cheap mounts I just bought. I will try to drill the OE mount BOTTOM and see if I want to replace the liquid that way in the new one as well. |

Have to make sure the bottom holes are plugged though. Duct tape will work. The liquid is not thin. |

window bond/weld won't do anything, it stays in place, filling the gap... the same with epoxy, I doubt it cracks and slips away...

Get back to me in a year and say the same. Two different durometers, molded at separate times, will inevitably separate from one another. Especially "window weld" since it's not actually poly. It will harden and crack away. Quick google search shows just about anyone who as ever done it say the same.

I agree... it does harden and crack away but as long as has no chance to fall anywhere, it just stays and prevent excessive movements...
